Well, when I was a kid..I ignored them...avoided them. Sometimes that worked..sometimes it didn't. NOW, I would confront them if it was someone I had to deal with in every day life. If it was someone I'd never see again, I'd roll my eyes and walk away from it.
p.s. when I was 15 I had a friend that I always made fun of ( some friend I was huh?). I can't remember her name now..but it rhymed with diarrhea ..so of course, I always called her "Diarrhea". I saw her about 17 years later and apologized to her. I felt so bad. She was nice and forgave me.

when they die, ill visit their funeral for sure........but only to stomp on their grave & set it on fire. so just let 'em hate for now, they'll regret it & feel guilty later on in the future.
