Worms on Kale: orgo spray?
Little green worms have discovered my kale. What will distract them from chewing holes in my greens in an organic way?
Not that it matters, but every day I take 5-6 leaves (of kale, chard or beet greens) and stick it in my mighty blendtec for a green smoothie. Although the blendtec would reduce the worms to . . . . wormlessness . . . I do not need the extra protein nor their poopage!

The easiest thing to do is pick them off daily. Or you can spray Bt (bacillus theringensis) daily to keep the worms away but I find it is faster to hand pick and just as effective. It is also good to put row cover on hoops over top to keep the sulfur moths and cabbage butterflies from being able to land on the plants and lay eggs.

You might want to try Rotenone Pyrethrins. It's a natural insecticidal concentrate made from chrysanthemums and tropical legumes.

You can try any organic insecticidal soap spray, or bt, or even red pepper wax spray. (The last one won't kill them, but discourages many insects from feeding)
