  • LA Dodgers: Are you interested in starting a boycott of home games?

Obviously the Dodgers will sux this year. Obviously Frank McCourt is a freakin' LOSER. If we don't go to the games, he makes less money. Eventually he will have to sell the team.

How do we organize a boycott?

  • Estate Planning Question?

Mom is in a retirement home. We would like to sell her stock and mutual fund portfolio and re-invest it into income producing vehicles to pay for it. However, if we sell, there will be tax consequences.

If Mom gifts her entire portfolio to us, would our basis be the value of the portfolio when it is transferred to us? Then we could sell the stocks without the tax consequence, yes?

Yes, trollers, we would continue to keep Mom in the home and pay her bills!

  • Pawn Stars: How much do these guys get paid?

How much do Chumley and Big Hoss get paid?

For that matter, how much do Rick and the Old Man get paid?

I'm talking as "stars" of the reality TV show, not as employees of the pawn shop.

Chumley is a "star" on this show. So how much money does he get paid? Do the four guys get the same?

  • Who's eating my Iceland Poppy?

I planted pansies, snaps, ranuncs, anenomies, California Poppies and Iceland Poppies in a bed. I also planted a bunch of kale, cauliflower and broccoli in another bed. Somebody ate the kale, broccoli and Iceland Poppies, leaving the rest of the stuff totally untouched.

I've now netted the kale and broc, but I can't net the Iceland Poppies.

Who did this dastardly deed? I live near open space in the (relative to the rest of the country) warm west coast. I haven't seen a rabbit in my back yard but there have been possums and reports of raccoons. I know it wasn't a bug because the plants were MUNCHED. That's why I think it's a durn varmint. What you think?

  • Social problems confined to Males or to Females?

I recently inquired as to the protocol when I stayed in a hotel and my junk touched the water in the toilet bowl when I sat down. The consensus advice was not to stay at that hotel again.

However, it spawned a new question for ya'll: What are problems that are unique to men that women would never ever consider and what are problems unique to women that men would never ever consider?

  • Hotel toilets: any use in complaining?

I stayed in a relatively nice hotel on a business trip ($200/night). When I sat down to do my personal business, my junk touched the toidy water. Not that I'm being modest, but I'm pretty much average. I had to grab onto my sac in order to complete my hygienic activities.

What was I to do? Complain to housekeeping? Complain to the 22 y/o check out woman?

I choose option c: I'm not gonna stay there again.

  • 2007 Prius: is it time to sell?

I have 50M on it and it is in pristine condition.

I am concerned about the battery life and what happens in six or seven years.

How long is the battery "supposed" to last?

How much will it cost to replace?

So I'm thinking of selling the durn thing and going with a used Honda or another Toyota. Thoughts?

  • Nipple rings and other accoutrements: why?

I might be old school, but I mos def do not find them attractive.

However, I've never been with a woman who has them.

Are they stimulating? Even without being touched?

I suspect the same with rings and adornments further south?

  • Worms on Kale: orgo spray?

Little green worms have discovered my kale. What will distract them from chewing holes in my greens in an organic way?

Not that it matters, but every day I take 5-6 leaves (of kale, chard or beet greens) and stick it in my mighty blendtec for a green smoothie. Although the blendtec would reduce the worms to . . . . wormlessness . . . I do not need the extra protein nor their poopage!

  • Vegas: where are the best girlie shows?

Kind of a bachelor party type weekend. We aren't looking for something crazy, just sexy and gorgeous. Full frontal and all that kind of stuff.

    A show? A club?

  • Where to stay in Fabulous Las Vegas?

I want to stay close to one of the trams so I don't have to drive or take a taxi.

    Where do you suggest?

  • Kilowatts -- how much does the electric company charge?

I know it varies depending on your region. I'm not looking for exact rates, just a range.

And I also know the rates go up during high usage.

The reason why is that I'm considering a whole house fan to augment my air conditioning. Running the a/c for 5-6 hours while I sleep seems pretty inefficient. So a whole house fan might be the answer. I'd just like to know how much they cost to run.

    Thanks!

Following the Lakers' win last Thursday, he wasn't on the air Friday morning nor all of this week. Whattup?

  • Will neighbor's dog lift his leg in our house?

Neighbor had two dogs. One died of old age and he asked us to feed his other dog while he was on vacation. Other dog, Zack, is an escape artist and jumps the 7 foot fence regularly, especially now that his buddy has died.

While neighbor is on vacation, we decided to keep Zack in our back yard with our dog during the day. Zack seems happier. Our female dog appears to be more dominant.

We would like to bring Zack into the house but we are concerned that he would lift his leg.

Thinking of buying a pair . . . and I just saw that Forbes said that they are a total rip off. Any comments by ya'll?

  • Have you tried shoes that exercise your calves and core as you walk or stand?

Sketchers has Shape Up which run $120 and there are other companies with shoes that cost $250+.

    Does Adidas make some too?

    What have ya'll tried? Thoughts?

  • Flax seed: ground or whole?

I've heard that flax seeds sail right through the body without imparting much in the way of omega-3s. I am making raw crackers. I will soak the flax for a couple hours. Will this make them easier to digest? Alternatively, I could grind them up and then soak 'em for a few hours.

What do you flax experts think?

  • Sudden acceleration in my Prius: why not just shift into neutral?

I know that you cannot turn off the car if it is accelerating because you might lose control over steering as well as braking. So why not simply shift into neutral and then stomp on the brakes?

  • Lakes: standing pat or trading?

The Bynum + Farmar/Morrison for Bosh deal hasn't been in the media much in the last week or so. Toronto would be foolish not to get someone for him, at last some draft picks plus some expiring contracts.

Are the Lakers going to stand pat or make a trade? Anyone heard a rumors? I saw that Kirk Hinrich might be available . . . do we need him? Is Farmar in their future plans or is it all Shannon Brown? Can Brown reliably play the point?

I mean, whattup with Denver? The Lakes were verrrrrrry lucky to get out alive from that series, not to mention against Houston. Denver looks great this season and have given the Lakes a beat down twice.

Smarter people than me say that Walton is way more important than his stats, that when he's on the floor the team plays better. E.g., Walton makes the pass which makes the pass for the assist. Kobe could learn a little something about that. Actually, Mr. Intensity could learn a lot from his fellow players. He kinda reminds me of my teenage son who knows it all.

  • Geico Home Insurance: How can I find out its insurance rating?

I'm thinking of switching from a known -- State Farm -- to Geico for my homeowners coverage. The cost is literally 1/3rd less with better coverage. However, I can't google a rating for Geico's strength. Anyone know how to find it?

Would Geico Homeowner Insurance be the same as Geico Car Insurance (allegedly A++)? Same company, after all . . .

Interestingly, ConsumerReports.org, to which I subscribe, did not even list Geico as a homeowner insurance company in its September 2009 edition. Gave me pause to reconsider . . .
