Now that 2012 is being moved back 50-100 years can we meet back in 50 years to discuss it?

DAMNIT! DAMNIT! DAMNIT! I already built a bomb shelter and stocked it with RPGs, hand grenades, AK-47s, C4 plastic explosives, machetes, (3) SMAW, enough bullets to build a stairway to heaven, a karaoke machine and enough food to last 18 months. Now your telling me these things are useless? Damn you stupid Mayans with your stupid calendars.

Can't believe everything we read. If 2012 is causing too much of a commotion, the media will infiltrate and use their power of suggestion and the written word to diffuse it.

I never believed 2012 would end the world, anyway. I know the "end" the Bible talks about was to happen to the first century world since it uses adverbs such as "soon, at hand, shortly, in a little while, it is the last hour, the Judge is standing at the door, He will come and will not delay," etc. I take the Bible at its word and don't stretch out imminence into 2 millennia just because God is outside of time. I believe He communicates efficiently to us time-bound creatures. The "end" was simply the "last days" of the Old Covenant dispensation which did end catastrophically at the destruction of Jerusalem and its Temple in 70AD.

I do believe that life is cyclical and not linear, and therefore I don't dismiss the Mayan calendars, especially the long-count which is based on the precession of the equinoxes. They were masters at astronomy and mathematics. I just don't believe it foretells the end of our planet, just the end of a cycle and beginning of a new one. Whenever it happens is fine with me.

The world will end when the sun goes red giant in about 5 billion years.....

I hope you religious whack jobs stop ranting on about 'end of days' when 2012 comes and goes and ney a whisper changes. Your Jesus won't ever come back cos not least because he didn't exist in the first place. How long till you realise that the bible is a fairy story - another 2,000 years ?

The world never ends. It will go through big time changes, but not end. That is described in Revelation. I saw that news item too. It just goes to show you that all these dates that come up are not reliable. The signs about the coming Tribulation in the Bible is the accurate description. As we become more and more 'as it was in the days of Noah' we know that it is just around the corner. No exact date, but it is very close.

100 years from now they'll say something else and make it last yet another 200 years more. BS is always having to extend the deadline.

Although the end of the world will come for everyone, because once we die off individualy.... we won't be here.

It says "off by" 50-100 years. That means we could be 98 years overdue.

"oh it's 50-100 years from now."

Those are just guesses.
