Is there a good exercise for strengthening groin muscles?

I regularly walk on the stepper 30 min. a day, five days a week. I find that when I sleep at night, I get a pain the left groin area. I'm a side sleeper, so this prevents me from getting a good night's sleep, cuz I'm constantly tossing and turning. Are there any good exercises for strengthening these muscles?

Stretching is good, and you should stretch if you don't already do it, but stretching ain't the solution. Aggravate the muscles too much with stretching and you'll only make the problem worse.

Since you're asking for strength exercises, and the previous poster already linked you to stretching exercises, I'll just get to the point quickly.

Leg adductor and abductor machines target the groin, outer(lateral) and inner(medial) side of the thigh(groin).

Body weight movements includes standing or lying and raising a leg sideways.

Wide Squats- Body weight or weighted, works the groin very nicely.

I also have a few good stretches that I can arrange if you ask.

stretch, stretch, stretch. There are plenty of stretches for your groin that will loosen the tendons and strengthen the muscles

Warm-up to start, walk / exercise, then warm-down (i.e. stretch) also is your footwear OK and suitable?
