Do you (xtians) know what a mashiach is?

I use to be an xtian, i thought i knew everything about judaism...... so someone else posted a question and I saw soo many answers that made me want to hit my head against the wall a few thousand times. I've just come to wonder do any of the xtians here know what a mashiach is?

Update:

i figured the atheist members of R&S would be happy, Y!A wanted this to go in mythology.

Yup. I´m happy. First at the ´mythology´ bit (thanks for sharing) and for the fact I´ve learnt a new word today. (If the first answerer is correct and it means Messiah)

    Hello,

They were priests or kings who had been annointed with oil. Supposedly the Messiah was to come from King David's line, an annointed King and bring in the Messianic age. He will gather the Jews back to Israel and bring in a time of peace.

    Cheers,
