  • Is my manager legally able to tell me I cannot mention that I celebrate Chanukah?

I work for corporation, my store manager is not the CEO but a low level boss and has been my manager for a little under 2.5 years. Every year prior to this one my coworkers said "merry christmas" and i said happy chanukah when we were wished a whatever. This year my boss has decided to make it a rule that we cannot mention which holiday we celebrate or make it a point to call things one or another. IE last year people said that one of our products tastes like xmas in a cup, this year its holiday in a cup. This rule was made because one customer wished me a merry xmas last year and I told her "thank you but i celebrate chanukah, i hope you enjoy your holiday with your family" and she told me that jesus still loves me. Whoopdie do. Originally I thought the rule was ridiculous, but the rule has morphed! It is now that you can say 'christmas' if im not around OR if a customer says it first. So if a customer says merry xmas, you may reply... BUT you still may not say chanukah. This is not the first time I have had issues regarding religious beliefs of mine and my manager. I firmly believe that I am being discriminated against. Is not religious groups one of the groups protected under the US constitution? Is this rule legal? Can you legally tell your employees they cannot say they celebrate chanukah or xmas? This rule did not come from above her, it came from her. I am going to have a discussion with her about it, but I want to be sure I am legally in the right. IF this became an issue could I take the company to court? I feel as if I can.

  • Why do christians hate noahides (when they hear of them that is)?

Anytime I see christians talkin about noahides its vile and hateful. No just "they're going to burn in hell" but actual violent speech. Why do yinz (christians) hate noahides?

And to curve any "whats a noahide?" questions. Its a gentile that follows the seven laws of noah- boiled down to its simplest explanation, judaism for nonjews.

  • What are these specks in my aquarium?

I've had a 20 gallon, fresh water aquarium for over a year. A few weeks ago I brought in a new live plant for my fish. Last week I noticed these tiny black, or possibly white (they''re that small, i cant tell what color they are) specs swimming around the surface. I have a microscope so I tried to look at them closer but I couldn't get one. I googled it and decided it was daphnia. However, I changed the filter today and hours later I went back to look at the old filter and these tiny specks were crawling in it. Some were bigger and it looks as if they have antenna and are longer than they are round. What on earth are they? Are they harmful to my fish?

  • We found this chipmunk in our yard and somethings wrong with him?

There was this chipmunk in our yard with a nut in his mouth, his head ****** side ways and acting oddly. He was running in circles and seemed disorientated. I put gloves on and picked him up, yes he tried to avoid me. He spit the nut out... i had thought the nut was stuck in his mouth. So I put him down, he did not run away. His head is still ****** sideways as if he cannot move it and he was still running in circles... even running over my foot a few times. He went back and got the nut. I love animals and dont want to see him suffer.... I got him in a hamster carrying cage with lots of bedding, a water bottle and a natural chewable hide hut. His head is stick ****** to the side, he ran for a little bit but is now looking at me. Clearly I do not want to keep a wild chipmunk as a pet, but is he okay to let back in the yard? We have cats and i dont want to see them go at him. Any idea whats wrong with him?

  • Do I need a permit to collect donations for charitable causes?

I'm trying to start a charity essentially. Do I need a permit or any sort of government approval from the US government to collect things such as stuffed animals, toys and school supplies (at a PO box) and then ship them to needy kids over seas?

  • Why are some atheists here spelling G-d or referring to Him with a capital letter?

Only some are, and its weird. Why capitalize it? I thought it was only to be capitalized if its a proper name, and by default atheists dont believe in any god or goddesses so why refer to G-d with a capital letter? Not that I mind, but im curious.

ie: "i dont believe in your skydaddy, He isnt real"

  • Do you mind religions that dont attempt to convert people?

With the exception of Islam and Xtianity most of the worlds better known religions generally dont ask you to convert..... so I was wondering, do they bug you? I mean how often is a Jew knocking on your door telling you to follow Torah or a buddist telling you to be peaceful? Just out of curiosity, which religions dont bug you? or do you hate/like them all?

  • My hamster has been stuffing his hut the past couple days?

I bought a new hamster about two weeks ago. I bought him one of those huts they sleep in and he was fine with it until two days ago, he took a good bit of his bedding and stuffed his hut all the way up, so no more could fit.... then he went and slept somewhere new. I changed his bedding (as i do every saturday) and he did it again last night. Should I buy a new hut? I have no idea why he is doing this. The hut was a darker space than where he is now sleep (one of those above the cage petting area on the critter trail) and im a bit baffled.

  • I have a legit question thats religious and political so im asking it here because i love you, kinda?

Its my personal belief and im not trying to make you think that way, just asking if this way of wording it sounds rude or if im just drunk.

It is of my personal belief that marriage is a religious institution and that America isn't, nor is meant to be a religious country. This is why I do not support nor reject the governments move towards same-sex marriage. I would prefer if the government didnt recognize marriage for anyone, but rather civil unions... and with whom i wouldn't care. But I know that is an unrealistic request so I normally just keep quiet because in the end, it doesnt affect me.

  • What candy would be good for a at-home haunted house?

Every year I make a little haunted hall on the night of trick or treating. It's because we live in an apartment complex and most apartments dont give out candy for the kids. This year I have to place three candies, maybe more, but I just don't know what kids like anymore. At the door to my apartment I always use to give out the full in-store size recesses cups. The haunted hall as two parts, a witches lair and a spiders den. For the witches lair I was thinking huggies, the flavored sugar water... and id put them by the "potions" and for the spiders den I was going to look for small bags of cotton candy. Do kids still like these? have better suggestions?

  • How do nonxtians handle xmas?

Last year I wasn't an xtian in december but did the whole gift exchange anyway. This year I have no desire to take part in it. I just dislike the concept of a pagan religion having a high holy day and another pagan religion stealing it and jamming it down other peoples throats. I have no desire to even accept gifts this year :-\ So I have two problems:

    1. Even though I'm 22 my oldest sister still gets upset when i do something my parents do not like. My parents know Im not doing xmas. They have voiced concern about my sister coming into my work and start throwing things and yelling... i have no idea how to tell her since she gets so violent so easily.

    2. Its not even halloween and im already sick of xmas.... how the heck do people that dont celebrate it get by?
