Are Conservatives upset that the US economy is on the upswing, according to reports?

It takes at least 4 years for an economy to recover after major banking crisis. Look at the great depression and the early 80's recession for confirmation. Republicans seek to take advantage of this difficult recovery period. We may be going to far to say GOP is hoping for Obama to fail. We can conclude the GOP is emphasizing bad economic news and taking advantage of current climate. For example, GOP claims the key to recovery is jobs. Under FDR (great depression) and their GOP hero Reagan (80's recession) jobs were the last thing to come back in the recovery. So the GOP works to make Americans focus on an element of the recovery that is unlikely to improve until the very end. This may be smart politics but is not based on reasonable analysis of this recession.

Thank you for the good laugh. But beyond that, the economy is not stable yet, and there are still glitches in the system that could cause another major collapse. the stimulus has not produced jobs, it has merely put a band-aid on the real issues. Also the "indicators" in 2009 showed we were past the worse of it as well, too bad there has been only slight signs of recovery up to this point. Over a year, and minor improvement is not out of the woods yet.

It's not hard to imagine that with all the 'new wealth' injected into the economy that the indicators would signal this. They always do. They are prepping the next bubble. People have short term memories and supporters of Obama and Democrats will hail this as a good sign, and then look for a conservative to blame when it all comes crashing down, again.

Not at all. Corporate balance sheets are growing stronger with the combination of high cash flow and normalizing credit markets and are already, overall, the strongest in the last 21 years.

There is, however, no confidence in the current government. Businesses have parked their money on the sidelines, awaiting positive news out of next month's elections before committing to growth and expansion.

I am fuming that the Liberals in NY State will go to the Polls next week and re-elect every Democrat based on what they say and ignore all the government corruption. I want you to explain why you Liberals keep voting for Democrats and more government when it's just blatantly corrupt...

Antoine Thompson cares about the environment. He is our State Senator who was caught in that scandal with Sheldon Silver. Pay to Play for Casino rights. Bribes, peddling influence, etc. But he cares for the environment. He'll win in a landslide because Liberal voters could care less as long as they get "more" from the government. Who cares about the taxpayers? Most Democrats don't pay anything. Other people are getting fleeced.

It always tickles me to see the Socialist Agenda rhetoric. No one ever lists details (besides their Health Care position) that shows what legislation is "Socialist" and how that differs at all from the previous administrations (both Parties). Much of the passed legislation over the past 20+ months has been quite Moderate and is more an extension of the Bush/GOP years, if anything.

The resurgence isn't due to Obama, if you haven't noticed IT IS ELECTION TIME and the Reps are leading the polls. Do you think maybe that might have something to do with it? I mean come on! I do.

Is the economy truly improving or is the measurement used for our economy flawed? I'm currently working as a temp for a company that exclusively does state government contracts for highway projects and most the work we have done isn't needed, changing out highway signs that are in good condition. If you drove I-70 in Colorado near Vail yesterday, you may have seen me hanging those big signs.
