why are U.S. air-launched cruise missiles so limited?...so obsolete?

Why are our premier air-launched cruise missiles, notably the AGM-86 and AGM-129 only carried by the aging B-52? That aircraft exclusively. Why not have a missile more versatile, also being able to be carried on platforms such as the B-1 and B-2? ...also, why does it seem we aren't pursuing low-observable technologies?...are these designs unreliable?...too expensive to maintain?(appears govt. is stepping away from the agm-158 and 129) and why do we still have yet to invent a long-range missile capable of super-sonic speed? ...can anyone fill me in

Update:

btw...I'm talking about for national defense. As in, say we went to war with a world super-power...such as China or Russia. I know these missiles have no use against cavemen in Afghanistan, but the vast landscapes of Asia can "tuck-away" critical targets that can only be attacked from standoff ranges. I feel with recent arms-cutbacks we are degrading our ability to deal with these superpowers in the future

their accuracy is the problem. A drone can hit within 1 ft

of the target, the CM can hit within 10 ft.

the drone is basically invisible, and is reusable. THE SM not

it takes other flying vessels to see the results of CM's

    actions. A drone watches 24/7.

  • Big bombers are themselves pretty obsolete.

Supersonic speed and low observable technologies are largely exclusive. Drones and attack aircraft are what work: Low and slow get the job done.
