What is the Federal Law concernig breaks and lunch?

Most people assume that the Federal Law says if you work 8 hours you must have 2 breaks and a lunch break. But my understanding is that it only says if you work 6 hours you must have a break.

There is no law in the way of hours worked to how much time for breaks/meals there are. But they specify that if one is offered a break lasting from 5 minutes to 20 minutes, then they must be paid for that time, whereas bonafide meals are non-paid time. But that is the only law in the way of breaks and lunches. You can check with your state labor dept to see if there are any laws at the state level. I also know that certain companies have their own policies on breaks, meals and how many hours qualifies you for things.

if you work in the private sector, you probably have very little rights concerning lunch and breaks. If you work in the public sector, then ask your union leaders. Once again, the values of unions and socialism are evident. but the capitalist idiots will, i am sure, call me lazy because i like to take a break every now and then and not work mysefl to death so some wealthy elite can enjoy enormous privileges at my expense.
