In the movie, "The 13th Day" sister Lucy makes the comment, "I am told that there is a language in which the word Fatima means peace." What language is that?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat is the Federal Law concernig breaks and lunch?
Most people assume that the Federal Law says if you work 8 hours you must have 2 breaks and a lunch break. But my understanding is that it only says if you work 6 hours you must have a break.
2 AnswersOther - Politics & Government1 decade agoIs there a Federal Law that says employees must keep track of their hours at work on a form?
I have been told at work that it is a Federal law that we must fill out a time card or time sheet or sign in with a computer in order to keep track of our hours. I can see that the employer may demand this but I don't know of any Federal Law saying that it must be done.
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoIs anyone interested in starting a conservative teacher's union?
It seems that the teachers unions are very liberal. When you join all you get for your dues is "we will defend you in court" or email about how great Obama is and how abortion must be pushed across the land. So what if there were created a Teacher's Union for conservative teachers?
15 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIf Obama can't produce documents for citizenship, should he be allowed to be president?
If the constitution requires it then why doesn't Obama produce the good? What's he got to hide?
8 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoDid churches pay taxes in 1787 after the Constitution was ratified?
Didn't the constitution say that there would be no state churches? But where did it shut up clergymen (IRS 2007-41)? So for at least 150 years of American History the Churches were free to say what they wanted but all of a sudden in the 20th century we have the IRS (KGB sorry I digress). How can the government possibly require churches to remain out of politics or be taxed? They were never taxed by the government before. So why did we give this power to the government in the first place if its not directly stated in the constitution? Didn't the government build itself a house of cards here?
3 AnswersHistory1 decade agoHave we been fooled by the government into thinking it has powers that it really doesn't have?
1. Churches cannot speak out against political candidates because if they do, they can lose their tax exempt status under Revenue Ruling 2007-41.
2. The Constitution guarantees a right to an abortion.
3. The Supreme Court has the final say in deciding if a law or case is constitutional or not.
Could these be legal fictions that are not really connected to the United States Constitution at all? How can the government (IRS) make and agreeement with churches when churches are supposed to be independent, tax free entities anyway? The founding fathers never ever put in a clause taxing the churches. So why is the Church bound by such an agreement with the IRS. The church need to be free, clergy must be able to speak from their pulpits against or for political candidates. Aren't we the home of the "free" and the "brave?"
7 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes the Constitution give the right of tax exemption to the Church?
If this is so, please tell me where, doesn't it mean that the State is more powerful in "giving rights" to the Church? Isn't that very concept a violation of the socalled Separation of Church and State? How can the government be "over" the Church and "grant" it rights?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat is an abortion? How is it done?
Can anyone explain to me what an abortion actually is and how it is actually done as a medical operation? Please give details?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere in the Constitution is it stated that the Supreme Court would have the final say on constitutional stuf?
Please explain to me how the Supreme Court got the power to decide what is constitutional and what is not?
3 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhere in the constitution does it say Church speak out on politics lose tax exemption?
Its a simple question. Please quote me the constitution that says Churches must shut up about political candidates or lose tax exemption. I don't care about "church and state" I want to know where it is in the constitution. Was it added later? By Whom? So what amendment is this in? I think this generation of americans have grown up with bogus ideas about our government. One of them is: Church cannot speak out on condidates or lose tax exemption. The question is not just give me what you think, give me the amendment from the country's founding document.
6 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWill Obama be a Dictator?
If we "Spread the Wealth Around," make "abortion on demand legal," and act like Chamberlain, in dealing with Iran, won't Obama become a dictator?
7 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhy is "Tax Exempt Status" being used to shut up clergy?
Isn't this a violation of the "Freedom of Speech" idea in the Bill of Rights? Who ever said that a Church's tax exempt status can be taken away if a bishop speaks against Obama? Yes I know about IRS Revenue Ruling 2007-41 but who in their right mind thinks this law is valid when the Founding Fathers themselves did not use tax exemption as a noose around the church's neck? I don't think the founding fathers would have liked 2007-41 at all. Are we in NAZI Germany or Soviet Russia? Is Obama going to be a Dictator?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do dictators always try to shut up the Church first? ?
If you look into history, Mexico, Germany, Russia, etc. always tried to shut up the clergy from speaking out. Its the nature of dictatorial revolution to pick on the Church first. Why does the IRS have the power to remove tax exempt status (Revenue ruling 2007-41) from churches whose clergy speak against Obama and his abortion stance? Where is this in the United State Constitution?
6 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoAfter 48,000,000 abortions do we really want Obama for President?

17 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWhere in the U.S. Constitution does it say that if a priests speaks against a candidate it loses Tax exemption?
Please give me the article in the US Constiution where it is specifically said that because a priest speaks out against Obama, that Church can lose it tax exempt status? Where did the IRS get this power from? I just can't see how the founding fathers would possibly tie the First Amendments and Bill of Rights Freedom of Speech to taxes. So who made this connection that we all seem to take for granted? Was it really what they intended?
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoWhy does the government have the right to control speach in tax exempt churches?
Why did anyone in this country ever give the IRS such a power? So tax exempt means no right to freedom of speech? Sounds like a slippery slop to me. Explain this please. Doesn't the constitution rule the land, not some IRS law?
13 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoIs the United States a NAZI country?
If the 3rd Reich, sorry, I mean the IRS can tell priests what is not to be said during a religious service, does this mean that Hitler is back?
