How much weight can I loose in 8 months?
We are going on a cruise in July. I weigh around 175-180 right now, I;m 5'3 and a half. Im also a university student on a meal plan, so my food options arent always the healthiest, although I always have access to a salad bar. I also get the gym for free (its a varsity athlete gym), and recently borrowed P90X from a friend.
What is a healthy amount? And What foods should I eat? I'm not a fish/seafood fan so that is out for me.
Thanks!
I should also mention that I previously played rep hockey and rep soccer, varsity field hockey and other varsity sports in high school. I'm not doing any varsity sports in university, just intermurals.

okay, you seem to be quite committed to this so i'll be honest with you that you chose a good time to do this because losing weight may take a while and getting results will be a long term thing not a zit problem. anyways to the good stuff. i think that you have good options to work with so here is what you need to do. exercise light when you start. over working yourself is a BIG problem with people who want to do this. so maybe jog for like five minutes one day and add two minutes every day. soon you'll be running like a maniac. but be careful to hydrate because if you don't, it will eventually make a down toll you DO NOT want to experience. and make sure that you don't exercise too much. its okay to not jog for an hour when you are done because this may actually benefit. now this is just for losing the weight but if you want to look toned, then do maybe push ups. not those girly on the knee ones REAL ones. i am 130 and 5' so please do not tell me these are hard, i do this everyday ten a day and still eat my cheesecake. its okay though if its hard and it may not look right at first as long as you do it, over time it will get better and wella you got some toned triceps. for the abdominals do sit ups and dont put your hands on your head and DO NOT have someone hold your feet. you need to push youself up with your stomach muscles. its OKAY if it doesnt look right. and the legs, do squat jumps and squat exercises this way it tone the butt, and the thighs, the calves will be more than tone after the running. do ten of each of these each day. if it isnt perfect today, there is tomorrow. and keep at it until you think that all ten pushups, situps, and squats are perfect and keep at it until you get to the next week then you add 5 to each of these sets. for your diet, you get wiggle room. eat about five meals a day to help you out. not five thanksgiving meals, but five little ones. like when you wake up, make youslef eggs. 2 hrs later you eat a little bit of fruit, two hrs later you eat lunch you can eat a sandwich and some fruit, sandwich and some yogurt, salad and some tuna, not too heavy but enough for you to refuel. and 2 hrs later have a grnola bar or some 100 calorie pack snack bag to keep you filled till dinner. same rules apply, but hey you can have your cake and eat it too. the key is on portion size. when i was trying to lose weight for a trip to the beach, i portioned my meals. no i was not starving myself, but i wasnt eating until i couldnt breahte either. so what you eat matters but a little bit og this and a little bit of that wont hurt. but if you're really careful stop drinking soda. that one is a killer. i stopped driniking soda for lent and i lost 5 pounds in that time... while eating chocalate! so that really is all my rules and well i hope it helps

Eggs and other things that contain protein. Be aware that there will be hidden fats and calories in salad dressings. You should exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. You should follow your country's/state's/province's food guide as it tells you what a balanced meal is.
