How Can Liberals Better Protect Bad Union Teachers?
Teacher's unions protect bad teachers from getting fired and liberals just love unions. There are some who would like to see better education for kids, even if it means firing a bad union teacher. How can liberals serve to strengthen the unions, improve union access to taxpayer money and save the jobs of terrible teachers?

Talking point alert!!!!
Show ONE Democrat that wants to keep a bad teacher on the payroll. Go ahead. I'll wait.
OK, I won't wait that long. That's just a talking point of the Right. The biggest single detriment to education is lack of parental involvement in schooling. If the parents care about education, then the kids will care.

Liberals as a whole can not change the unions, nor can the Cons change the Government. We need Americans to make the choice to change. Everyone is blaming one side or the other for the Government ruining the financial system here, well this is the shocker, do you know who actually is a fault for the financial mess? YOU, ME, all of us, not for our voting but our own selfish greed and the need to have everything. We are always looking for the next best thing to impress. It is our society that has caused the problem, now how do we fix it. Change our behavior, look at what is important, start their. These teachers decided to become teachers to educate the children that is what they aspired to be, not Union backed lazy teachers, Society made them that way. These Teachers need to remember why they get paid. However a Union is necessary to make sure the Teachers get the support they need (educational programs, text and other) and the Pay and Benefits that are needed.

I'm a die hard liberal, and I'm a former teacher. I worked for a principal who was absolutely awful. We wanted badly to have her fired (or at least removed from schools and put on desk duty), but it was impossible to fire her! By the time we could have gotten together enough documentation to actually get rid of her without a legal battle, she was going to retire anyway. It was a year from Hell. Everyone lost, most of all the kids. Her union (not the teacher's union, an administrator's union) protected her.
My union prevented that woman from firing me for no reason. She wanted to fire the Music teacher (me) and hire one of her buddies as an ISS teacher. She couldn't fire me, but she tried very hard to drive me out. My union saved my job, but did nothing to protect me from her. My union would not help me with the physical assaults at work, lack of support from the principal or the discipline referrals she gave me for made up issues. I would say that unions are not the all powerful entities you say they are.
No one wants bad teachers to stay in the classroom, but we do want effective measurements of good and bad teachers. In my classroom, I taught the unteachable to read music, write sentences and do Google searches. Many of the teacher measurement standards would have shown that I was a bad teacher because my kids' test scores were so low. I got them as 8th graders; it's not my fault they couldn't read. I worked on literacy in the classroom, but thy still failed all the tests.
Define a bad teacher and we'll all line up to train or fire them.

They cannot. They have the majority of the school administrators, they have the unions, they own the local politicians via their campaign contributions and non-campaign-contribution funding of advertisements (=campaign contributions, see Jerry Brown, candidate for governor of CA).
To wit : A NY teachers union rep was asked something on the order of, "you don't seem to hold the interests of the children at heart in the union", and their reply was "when the children start paying union dues, they will be represented".
Nothing against teachers. Good life, 3 months off, every holiday off, no overnights, no call, fat pensions. No sinclair lewis conditions keeping them down, Unions are superlative in todays society. Liars, thieves, and whores, that is what Unions are.

how can conservatives find a way to blame unions for our poor school system?
here are my top 2 problems with our school system:
problem 1: it is mostly funded by real estate taxes causing only the rich neighborhoods to have good schools
problem 2: everyone's curiculum is subject to the whims of the evolution denying imbiciles who run the texas school board

Bad teachers need a pay raise since they are vastly underpaid. Every bad teacher should be making atleast $250,000 a year.

You know, I'm a flaming liberal, and I definately do NOT support keeping a bad teacher from getting fired. Where on earth do you get your information from?

Same as they do with the other unions. Send in the National Guard to make the business leaders and the local people who want jobs toe the line and get out of the way of the union workers. Excuse me, that would not be 'workers'. That would be members. Union members are also famous for not working, almost as famous as for hiring thugs to attack locals who want to do the work for what the union members refuse to do it for.
