How loud is a tiger pistol shrimp?
i got a tiger pistol and it's still a baby at just over an inch. most forums have people saying that it is loud and can be heard outside the house. however, that don't seem very loud compared to the 200 decibels that it's claimed to do.
for something that is simply a loud snap how is it claimed that it is over 200 db?

Hi there,
Outside the house is a bit of an exaggeration.
My tiger pistol shrimp makes noise that i can hear it from upstairs in my master bedroom. But that's only during complete silence, with doors open. And my house is quite empty and creates a lot of echo.
I think the sound it makes.. is almost like snapping your fingers. Or making noise with a gum in your mouth (if you know how, i do).
It won't wake you up from your sleep, unless your sleep next to your aquarium. It sounds like a piece of gravel hitting the glass.
