My husband lost one in a field once -- we went back to look but never found it.

What's this have to do with religion?

As a watch is something that can be lost, then it could quite conceivably be found, in a field even.

Yep. Found the owner too. My Uncle Melvin. The catch broke while he was chasing down a runaway calf.

I found a world war 2 ronson lighter while hunting once. Does that count?

Oh, and it still worked once I put a new flint and some fluid in it.

I'm sure somewhere somebody must have dropped theirs in a field somewhere and then somebody else wandered by. Especially back in the days when people didn't wear them on their wrists.
