why Jesus rejected the keepers of the law?

Because they were hypocrites. They, for instance, quoted the law to Him when they brought the woman "caught in the very act of adultery," saying she had to be stoned. The Law said that BOTH were to be put to death, so the MAN should have been there, too (since they were "caught in the act"). Jesus did not reject the Law, He rejected the people who put the laws of man ahead of the Law of God. (Modern case in point: people who say you must go to church on Sunday then turn around and say keeping the Sabbath is "legalism.")

He does not reject the law keepers, He rejects the "ceremonial" law keepers

He says "If you love Me, Keep My Commandments"

    what is sin?

1 John 3:4 tells us that sin is transgression of the law. Some people insist that the law was only for the Old Testament - BUT you can't deny that we still have sin in present day. And if sin exists, then there must still be be a law that people break!

Because the "law keepers" aka scribes and pharasees totally missed the purpose of the law. God established His laws so that those who loved God would follow Him out of love. Scribes and Pharasees used it to put themselves on a platform and condemn, criticize, and judge others. That's God's job... not theirs. They adhered to the letter of the law, but missed the Spirit of it.

That's why God sent Jesus to fufill the laws of the old covenant. No longer are we completely required to fufill every single law and command, but what we do is done by the Holy Spirit living in us. Jesus didn't "reject" the law-keepers, but He was very disappointed and angry because of what they were doing. They had no love or mercy in their hearts, only wickedness, selfishness, and deceit.

Mercy triumphs over judgement, and love covers a multitude of sins. The pharasees missed the whole point. They were soooo religious they couldn't accept Jesus for who he was, the Messiah, the Christ. Instead they ended up crucifying Him

The Pharisees followed the LETTER of the law and totally missed the SPIRIT of the law.

Jesus came to restore us to God's GRACE. And grace is not obtained through the law. It is a free gift for the faithful.

Jhn 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, [but] grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

Rom 4:16 Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

Gal 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

Gal 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

The Pharisees and scribes sit in the seat of Moses (the Lawgiver). 3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. You gotta pay attention in the bible like in Matthew 23, Then Jesus spake to the multitude and his disciples. In verses 8, 9 and 10 he is speaking of a third person, someone besides himself.

8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren.

9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

They totally lost the reasons for the law, and the LOVE that was supposed to be a part of their religion.

    He didnt.

Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them.

    Peace be with you

He did not. He told people to do whatever they said to do BECAUSE they were the official interpreters of the Law. But he also told people not to imitate them because they were hypocrites.
