What kind of chess set is this?
I'm thinking of putting this chess set on eBay, but first I need some opinions on what kind it may be? Look at the pictures and let me know if you have any idea? My dad bought it at an auction in the 1980's, so it's at least that old. It's very heavy. The link to the pictures is below:

It looks like it's an Egypt theme. Check the bottom of the board (no pun intended) for any make or model seal or name. Don't sell it on E-bay till you have a proper appraisal done by an antique expert. If you do sell, make sure it's insured and to a buyer with a confirmed address, and that you have a tracking number.
I have sold to people on Ebay before and had them report a fraudulent charge months later after they had even given a positive feedback saying the item arrived, paypal was useless they have No seller protection, or what they have is as useful as a masters degree out of a vending machine. It has become a place for wholesalers from China making fake knock-offs and craft makers to earn a quick buck; it is extremely risky to put such a delicate and possibly valuable item up for auction.
Listen, I know how you feel because I'm sitting on a sculpture that I have good reason to believe is from the time of the roman empire and I will just keep it on the shelf till I know for sure because it's not worth it to have a situation happen where you let something go for a thousand and find out it's worth fifty times that or more.

It's not a standard chess set based on the Staunton design used in all tournaments. You will find the various sorts of set from chess catalogues. You can find chess catalogues from official chess sites. I found a wide range of chess set types in the British Chess Federation site. (Google BCF Chess).
