Do we live in a POLY-GODIST society ?

A Person can consciously chose to follow poly theism or mono theism but a person by default stays in this POLY-GODIST society. Because as long as we support and up hold a chosen God its imperative that we are rejecting other Gods which means we are a part of POLY-GODIST system where we have the option to select one God or the other. The same may not apply to an atheist.

WHY IS IT SO THAT NOBODY SPEAKS OF POLY-GODISM ?

Update:

Ok dim wit , we live in a society where many GODS are in action like a Christian God, a Muslim God, a Hindu God, a Zionist God, a Jew God etc.

And if some body has never heard of a word, don't know how to coin a word and cant follow a passage, its his problem.

Update 2:

Guru Hank, did you say the same thing when you heard a newly inducted English word for the first time ? We have multitude of English words that are coined every day or are borrowed from other languages.

My friend, I don't want to get into the grammatical technicalities of the word you used.. As long as the meaning is conveyed , never mind.. even grammar was written/codified by people like us..but poly theism automatically does not imply that it is imperative to reject other Gods ..Anthropologically speaking, God and religion evolved basically for social discipline .. arguably to inculcate a sense of fear to sin .... then a way to explain natural forces.. but gradually degenerated into a tool in hands of magic man who literally turned into king maker...rituals became necessary ..to keep reminding God and later for community participation, platform to convey doctrines ...Later in so called 'civilized' societies organized and canonized scriptures evolved... hatred in the name of religion progressed instead of remaining together to be expected (or not?) with scientific advancements and global village phenomenon...but it is a reality..

I have friends from all communities and God and religion never came in the way,.. Similarly it is an obvious truth that God is one .. and for an atheist..the super cosmic force/energy is one .. If you believe in God you automatically "believe'" in other Gods and not reject them.. reverse is true!!

So many Gods perhaps were only to represent Godliness in all beings... Even in Islam there are suras which state clearly that other faiths should be respected..Jihad is the most misinterpreted word ,believe me..

So, my friend! God is not exclusive.. He is comprehensive.. You may be called by a nickname by your friends and another by your parents and another by your siblings and another in records and still sweeter name by your girlfriend ...All are same.. the same new friend of mine,.... YOU!!!!!

Out of respect for the language.

@laju lesley - there are many new words introduced into the language every day. These may be technical terms or names of new products.

However: the prefix 'poly' meaning 'many' comes from the ancient Greek πολύς .

God comes from a similar Anglo Saxon word.

You are therefore mixing up two different languages in your word, which is one of the reasons it is awful.

Nobody speaks of "polygodism" because it isn't a word. It's polytheism, and the people who worship more than one god are polytheistic. I am not sure what your point is here, because you contradict yourself. You also used "imperative" incorrectly.
