I had the epidural first time, natural the second time....wow..I was begging for that epidural!

It was terrible for me! I am not sure about you other mothers but I wouldn't do that again!

I felt like I was bullied into getting the epidural the first time. I asked to talk about some options and then the next thing I know, they were there to do the epidural. When I tried to explain that wasn't what I wanted, they were like, we can't afford to waste our time. It's a very busy day and if you don't do this now, we might not be able to come back later. So, I did it. I regret it. I am now 25 weeks with number two and will not be getting one this time around. We are going to a differant hospital and using a differant midwife.

  • My 3.5 year old daughter was born at the hospital, with every intervention but forceps or a vacuum. My 8 month old son was born at home, intervention-free. There is absolutely no comparison - the home birth has it.

However, if you're going into it convinced that it will be a horribly painful ordeal and something that may possibly be regrettable, just go ahead and get the epidural. You have to be very well prepared for and looking forward to a natural birth for it to be even remotely enjoyable. If you're freaked out about the pain, it's going to hurt. (Google the fear-tension-pain connection.)

with my first i had an epidural it was so easy no pain nothing i got it at 2 cm and i wasnt even hurting but they offered it so i thought i had to take it then , with my second i was 4 cm and they wanted me to labor on my own they didnt know my placenta had abrupted . and i went into intense pain and they checked me an hour later and i was 8 1/2 almost 9 cm . they tried to get the epidural going but it was no use i was pushing and hurting severely bad . my vaginal area wasnt in pain really until they had to rip me to get him out because i lost to much blood . but the contractions were horrific and made me start to throw up . i know that natural wasnt for me but they didnt think in an hour and a half i would go so fast

Yup. i had a medicated hospital birth for my first who is 3 1/2 years old. I just gave birth at home 5 days ago. It was the most amazing experience of my life. We dont' plan on having anymore children but i fi were to ahve another one, i do it the same way.

of course i was able to labor the way i wanted and be in wahtever position i wanted. i labored in my bath tub most of the time and pushes when i felt was ready
