Tamilians : Who is best : Sivaji Ganesan or Kamala Haasan and why?

Usually i keep away answering questions related to politics and Cine field.

But this question kindled my interest somehow, and i see most of the answers support Kamal.( including you )

I liked Shiaji's acting, and an actor is as Good as his Director. If in some films Shivaji has over acted it is because The director of that film wanted him to act like that in that film.

Kamal's acting period is different and Shivaji's acting period is different. It is like comparing DON Bradman with Sachin Tendulkar

With so much advance in Movie Technology, even an ordinary scene can be shown as real one, even an ordinary actor can be shown showing many emotions.

Are you not seeing actors who does not know anything in dancing, shown as if they do most difficult postures on films? These are possible because of Advanced Technology in Cine filed.

Now the latest Rajini movies shows him as young, PAA showed Amitab as a boy!!

In those days only good acting was accepted by viewers and Shivaji excelled in that.

Sri Sivaji Ganesan was the first artist from India to visit the United States of America, in the Cultural Exchange Programme of the US Government, in 1962 establishing himself as a distinguished Indian Cultural Ambassador. During his visit there, he was honoured by being made the 'Honorary Mayor" of Niagara Falls City for one day and was presented the Golden Key to the city. The only other Indian who has had this honour before Sivaji was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The Greatest Merit of Sivaji Ganesan is that no other actor either in Tamil Cinema or Indian Film Industry or in the whole

World has done such a great number of roles and acted in such a great varieties of roles depicting real life- like characters on screen and no other actor's acting career is so much saturated with such a great number of milestones in terms of unimaginable achievements as in that of sivaji Ganesan.

Meritorious Awards:

1) The Best Actor Award won in Afro- Asian Film Festival held in Gairo, Egypt in 1960.

2) Padmasri Title - 1966.

5) Padmabhushan Title - 1984

4) Chevalier Award of France 1995.

5) Dadha Saahib Paalkhe Award 1997.

All these awards are given to him in recognition of his acting only.

Any other present day actor got these many awards?

That is why he is awarded Nadithar Thilagam award.

His voice is itself famous" Shima Kuralone"

Sivaji Ganesan is a Legend! A product of History! A stroke of destiny's art! Artistes like him appear only once in a millennium! One of the reasons, I am proud to be a Tamilian, is that I was a contemporary of Sivaji!

Some of his roles can never be played by any other artists either in India or elsewhere; and it is true.

In those days we went to see Shivaji movies to see his acting,

nowadays movie goers go to see movies to see the actors!!

Kamal is no doubt a good Artist - but there is an essential difference - Whichever role Sivaji acts in one sees that Character in the movie, whichever role Kamal takes u only keep seeing Kamal Hassan in that !

For me it is Kamala Haasan for his various kind of roles in different languages as well as for his singing abilities and also converting himself to the role he is adoning.

Sivaji, on the contrary, was always doing over-acting and was having some sort of head-weight as if he only knows the art of acting with over shouting etc.

Kamala Hasan is much better than Sivaji Ganesan.

Kamal Hasan is a very verastile actor who is completely at home with any type of role be it a comedy,a thriller,action or one demanding the highest thespian skills.I

would go to the extent of comparing him with some of the greats of Hollywood like

Sir Lawrence Olivier et al.He is also a very fine exponent of Bharata Natyam.His dialogue delivery is so natural and facile.

Sivaji on the other hand was good but tended to be very artificial and even overact.

He was good at portraying historical roles.His dialogue delivery was like a put up job and not at all natural though in his later roles he was passable.

for me both are good actors., though my vote also goes to kamal

kamal was humble enough to say that tamizh cinema's era should be counted as before shivaji/after shivaji

kamal had done (veriety of ) roles which sivaji have not done

regarding the shouting ( as you have mentioned) i disagree because during shivaji's era say upto 70s tamizh cinema was loud ,melodra in overdose etc.,which cosmopoliton/metropolitan viewers who have been watching other language films especially english and hindi found the same ,not to their liking

Kaman Hasaan is the best. Because, a food needs correct amount of salt for a better taste. Shivaji Ganeshan was like a food having more salt. Power Star Srinivasan is like a food having no salt. And Kamal Hasaan is like a food having correct amount of salt.

Both are best.

But Sivaji Ganesan crying........a man should not cry in this manner.
