It's time for the Ashes?

As most of you should know it's time for the Ashes. Just wondering who you guys think will win? I want England to win but I do think Australia will be too strong. Keen on KP hitting a few runs and possibly a century!

P.S. if any of you remember me, this is The Barmy Army who has returned. Was once a Top Contributor here about 2 years ago so it's good to be back.

Update:

YesNo, my memory evades me on who you are. I don't actually remember you. And I didn't have a cup of tea with any cricketer in late 2009 lol

This is England's best opportunity to win the Ashes according to Shane Warne.

    http://cricket.yahoo.com/cricket/news/article?id=i...

Not only Warne, Gilly has also voiced the same. The band wagon is too long. Even Steve Waugh, Gregg Chappel etc. have voiced similar opinion.

The Aussies are down in morale after their unsuccessful Indian campaign where they lost both the tests as well as the ODI 1-0, with 2 ODI's getting washed out.

Key players are injured as well as most of them are out of form, and as such the team is jaded.

If SL provide some upset, then England's win is assured.

We are the outside support for England from India awaiting English victory this Aussie summer cause this team has what it takes to win--confidence, form, wins, good support in abundance & a solid team without any need for cheap go at opposition its their time to indulge in that as they are well aware of what they are up against-- a very good successful team, just hope that English players don't lose their composure at this crucial time, as last time they lost badly after winning the Ashes in England but mind you Australia doesn't have the kind of team to inflict that sort of defeat on this solid English team, which according to Sachin is well balanced a huge compliment they have to just take that confidence to Australia & maintain it even if they don't start off brightly its a fairly long tour things could change but good start would dent Aussie confidence further as they are fearing for the worst after a very long gap at home in the Ashes, so all the best team England do your best you have all the right ingredients to taste success just be patient !!

As this is not a shadow of the Great team of Dominators from the last Aussie tour i am Not optimistic about Australia's chances with Ponting's non leadership and continued carrying of deadwood like Hussey & North in the team! So I sadly predict an English victory. Close call in most test but Poms 2-1.

If ever you guys had a chance ( Of course after Mike Gatting), it's now. It'll take much efforts than loose talk that Strauss & Co are indulging at present. KP and Swan have to be at their best. If KP hits some 400+ in the series the urn will go back with you, otherwise it'll be a long flight back to London.

England's win depends on Swaan only. If he bowls well then no-doubt he will get Ashes for England as he took ODI and Test Series from Pakistan. Pakistan was ODI series victorious if Swann didn't bowl well.

Next we know Aussies are pretty strong at Home. There'll be totally different conditions for England. Pitches will bouncy straight and Kookaburra ball will be used which have no swing. England plays with Duke ball which swings more.

Australian grounds are bigger as compared to England.

So obviously this will be very tough series for England for win. They need extra ordinary performance to win this Ashes.

I disagree totally. Think about recent times, England hold all the aces: A world class spinner, a returning to form KP, also, think of the Aussie attack. A spinner who went over 7 rpo on a spinner friendly wicket, Johnson sprayed it all over and George was ineffective. So there is no way Australia can take 20 wickets on pitches that will favor batsman, when they couldn't take 20 wickets on pitches that helped them.

Welcome back to this section. Its good to have more decent users here. The Ashes is going to be a tough series. England will hugely depend on their bowlers to grasp the conditions in Australia. It is going to be tough for us, but hopefully we will succeed. Our Batsmen look pretty good, expect for KP. He went to SA for some help, but so far I don't think he had many success.Let's hope the best for KP because England is hugely depending on him.

    Game On!!

    Welcome back.

England have a more balanced team with in-form players.

Aussies have home advantage and would be striving to prove a point.

If England are to win it has to be some extra contribution from G.Swann.

It will be an interesting series to watch.

Eion Morgan will be man to watch from England.

KP will be under pressure to perform well as he is making a come back.

Good Luck to both teams and welcome back to you.
