Having trouble with my internet?

I recently moved from the US to South Korea. When i was in the US my internet worked great! Since arriving here i have had non-stop issues with the internet. i've had to constantly unplug and re-plug my internet cord just so i can get back online. The internet guys have been at my apartment 3 times in a week and are clueless. There was nothing ever wrong with my computer. there r no viruses. What do i need to do to fix this problem?

I have a hunch i may have to re-format my computer, but i have no idea how and i dont have my Windows Software with me.

Please help me!

Update:

i'm not complaining about the speed, i'm complaining about how i'm always kicked off the net.

Update 2:

Tech, i think you may be onto something. The internet is pretty fast here.

It is difficult to advise from a distance however, I address the point above regarding speeds in South Korea first of all by saying that Internet speeds in that part of the world are generally regarded as being the best in the world!

Accepting this, I would not recommend reformatting your computer because that will have little to do with the problem. Instead I would check your physical internet connection to establish if you need some kind of filtering adaptor (ADSL filter) to be attached or maybe check to see if you are using the correct one - if needed at all.

Secondly, without knowing the specific Internet protocols that exist in that part of the world, you should check to see if your router is set up correctly fro that area. The settings which work well in the USA may not be correct for South Korea. Is there anybody else in your locality that has a similar router where you can check typical settings.

Finally, Due to the very high speeds associated with South Korea, it may also be possible that your actual Modem cannot handle the traffic going through it. Internet Broadband routers do have an upper limit - not immediately sure what this is. If your Internet speed is above this limit I would believe this may create a problem for you.

Finally If you have moved to South Korea and you plan to be located there for any length of time why not consider investing in buying a local Router? I imagine by doing this, it would negate many of your difficulties.

to reinstall all software without the cd, i presume thats what you are talking about. switch your computer off, when switching back on- tap alt and F8 or F10 fast at the same time, this should be where you find thr reinstalation screen, just opt for a full reinstall, remember you will lose all information you have on your computer, this may take a while but could be worth it . you also have to re-enter your wep key to connect to the internet once done. hope this helps.

it is been occurring to me for greater or less 2 weeks now. After being on the telephone with at&t over an hour some situations.....I even have the code to get right of entry to my modem and restart it myself. I try this from the pc and not on the actual modem itself. It takes me 5 min to repair the priority....nonetheless stressful!!!

Different places have different speeds. Apparently South Korea has a very bad connection.

Deal with it or come back to the US.
