No because the lawyers are only doing their job and they have no control over whether or not an offender commits a crime again.

No. In the US (and I believe in Canada as well) the right to an attorney when facing criminal charges is an absolute right. If we begin to punish lawyers for people who re-offend, then no lawyer in their right mind would ever defend a person accused of committing a crime, destroying the purpose of the right in the first place.

By your logic this man's parents should also be convicted because they gave birth to him, allowing him to commit a crime in the first place. The lawyer has no control over what his client does after the case is over.

You have two lawyers and one's job is to defend and the other is to prosecute. It is like a football match. You don't punish the players for doing their best, no matter what happens.

Why not make the judge who approved the deal serve the sentence? Or pick a random member of the public to represent the people who voted for the politicians who wrote the laws?
