College app missed deadline by 5 minutes, but Common App said 1hour 5min?
My school community just went through hell with the kind of tragedy movies are made of, so the three day weekend I planned to use polishing up my early action app was a haze of grief, class meetings, and shock. Today at school was awful because we had to face the reality of it. I know admissions officers say that a deadline is a deadline, and apps should be in before then, but I was so frustrated with EVERYTHING that I didn't finished the app until tonight. I was right about to slide in under the deadline when I was caught by an unpaid supplement, so I ran to get my dad's card to pay for it. By the time I got it in, it was several minutes past midnight my time. When I looked back at the Common App site though, it apparently marks the deadline from eastern time, so I look like I'm even later than I feel I am. I feel like I will be told to call the admissions office to explain, but I hate hate hate using emotions as excuses, and it's still so fresh that I hurt to think of it, and to explain it in vain would kill me. If there are any admissions officers out there with a heart for a high school kid (I know, you hear excuses ad nauseum), please tell me what to do. Maybe the answer really is that I won't get into the school of my dreams (early action is the only early option, don't pick on me there) because I didn't manage my time better.... I'm not really looking for an answer. I'm looking for a little human kindness, even if I am a Yale reject.
On another note....if they won't take me because I missed this deadline, is it possible to re-apply regular decision, which I would obviously make in time?
Thanks from Missouri.

look its gonna be ok. u need to calm down. sleep on it. n then go talk to a trusted teacher/councellor tomorrow in the morning. i m a college freshmen n i remember the hectic scenes n hey, u tried ur best. if ur app is great othre than the deadline thing, u could get in. u r human, things happen. so ....take a deep breath. cross ur fingers. sleep on it. u might be able to come up with a good wording of ur application. trust me admission officers r demons, but still human demons. n sometimes. just sometimes..... all u have to do is explain urself coherently n not use emotions. but first, talk to a counselor or a teacher. they will be able to give u the best advice. n hey. sometimes ph calls actually help u cos sometimes, the officer gets the signal that "oh wow. this kid is actually sincerely interested n making the effort." tell them about the eastern time thing. tell them that things aren't going well home, but u tried ur best. but as i said, first off, talk to a counselor a teacher.
all the best to u.

you have ignored your possibility by potential of being a suck up and making individual essays for each college. The essay subjects have been meant to have you ever. communicate approximately something no longer in the college sucking up. case in point. Wrote a pair of substantial impression on my existence. Didnt point out one college. this is in simple terms going to coach which you do no longer quite advise what you assert...yet as far as lacking an possibility. You stated as ten and Sao deliver it besides, although consumer-friendly app will 5 you an errors asserting theseadline has surpassed, so i'm especially specific you will might desire to call consumer-friendly app, get permission to reopen the time decrease from the colleges and have them make it easier to pass deliver it in...

you've got a great school right there MIZZOU, jk, anyway, you should be fine if the system accepted the application then they'll at least take it for regular admission. They only take early admissions from the amazing people but they still hold all of the other ones back for regular admissions which is probably where you would be.
