What's the one side dish you MUST have at Thanksgiving?

Now I'm a southern gal thru & thru so Thanksgiving has a few "must have" dishes at our house. My mamaw's deviled eggs, my grannie's mac & cheese, brother's squash casserole and Mama's homemade cornbread dressing just to name a few. What is the one dish you always serve at Thanksgiving? Please include recipes - Thanks!

Update:

Turkey, dressing & mashed potatos are a given. If we're lucky, we get ham too!

Sandy, you have enough there to feed the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan. I know what's missing:

Where is my apple pie. I don't see the no bake cheese cake mentioned up there

Im a southerner too and I make everything forThanksgiving.and Christmas....turkey, ham, dressing, rolls, giblet gravy, mac and cheese, squash casserole, cole slaw, potato salad, mashed potatoes, candied yams, creamed corn, butter beans, pumpkin pie, red velvet cake, sweet tea, and I have to say that the thing I have to have the most is the cranberry sauce, to me it just dont taste right without it. Heres one for you to try... mix up some chopped pecans in softened cream cheese and spread this between slices of cranberry sauce, I love it. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

    sweet potato casserole

3 cups red and white sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed

    1/2 cup sugar

    2 eggs, beaten

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 stick butter, melted

    1/2 cup milk

    1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Topping:

    1/2 cup brown sugar

    1/3 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup chopped nuts, i use pecans

    1/3 stick butter, melted

Combine potatoes, sugar, eggs, 1/2 stick melted butter, milk and vanilla. Spoon into 1 to 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Topping combine brown sugar, flour, pecans, and 1/3 stick melted butter; spread over potato mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

    layered pea salad

    Make in layers

1st: Head of lettuce, cut into bit size pieces, large tomato, small onion, diced, small green pepper, diced.Mix all together and put on the bottom of a 13"x9" casserole dish.

    2nd: 1 jar bacos - sprinkle over 1st layer.

3rd: 1 cup frozen peas (not cooked) thawed and drained on paper towels - add over 2nd layer.

4th: 1 cup mayo (i use miracle whip). Spread over 3rd layer as much as possible.

5th: Top with 1 cup grated swiss cheese.

This is better to set 12 hours in the refrigerator before serving.

    I can't wait!

The dressing, green beans (NOT the casserole), cranberries. My grandma made stuffed celery sticks that were out of this world--pineapple, walnuts, and cream cheese in a tender piece of celery. She's passed on and never would give anyone a recipe.

the only different component i will think of of that are many times mandatory could be a veggie like corn or green beans. distinctive people have self belief that having garnishes (or in spite of they're called) that comprise the radish's, small pickles, carrots, and celery are yet another would desire to have merchandise. the only different component I consistently upload to my side dishes is salad, fruit salad, and bread.

Cranberry sauce, angel eggs (made better with ranch dressing instead of mayo) and dinner rolls to sop up all the Gravy!
