translate song lyrics italian to english?

I found the lyrics to a song from repo! the genetic opera. the song is cromaggia. I put the lyrics into a translator, but it doesnt really make sense. could someone please translate for me?

TANTO TEMPO FA

UN UCCELLO FATALE DI NOME

CHROMAGGIA

INCROCIð IN VOLO LA FRECCIA DI UN

ARCIERE

LUNGO LE COSTE DI LAVA

PER ANNI, PENSANDO DI ESSERE

INSEGUITA,

SCAPPð DALLA FRECCIA

CHROMAGGIA, CHROMAGGIA

PERCHè NON AFFRONTI IL PERICOLO?

LA FRECCIA ERA LEGATA ALL'ALA

E LEI VOLAVA PER LIBERARSENE

TIRANDO LA FRECCIA,

ALTRI SON FERRITI PER MIA COLPA,

MIA COLPA

GIç! VERSO LA BOCCA DEL DIAVOLO!

LA SUA FRECCIA, I MIEI OCCHI.

Update:

please don't just run the lyrics through a translator. it doesn't make sense. please only answer if you have some level of Italian speaking ability and can translate /meaning/ not just direct words.

Strange lyrics! Anyway, here it is:

    A long time ago

    a fatal bird named

    Chromaggia

met the arrow of an archer

    as she was flying

    along the lavic coasts.

For years, thinking that she was being

    chased,

she flew away from the arrow.

    Chromaggia chromaggia

    why don't you face danger?

the arrow was stuck in her wing

and she kept on flying trying to shake it off

    Pulling the arrow

others get wounded and that's my fault,

    my fault

    down! towards the Devil's mouth!

    his arrow, my eyes

PS: I used "she", "her" and so on in my translation because I get the feeling that the bird is *humanized* when I read the Italian lyrics. In the last sentence I used "his" instead, because I think they mean "the Devil's arrow" here, but I could be wrong (it could be "her" = "Chromaggia's").

Also, FERRITI is wrong... the right spelling is FERITI with one R
