manga with abused (and hot) guy as the main character.?

(Sorry this may be a haphazard ans. I wrote out some nice summaries but then had to cut short because was too long. :( grrrrrrrrr summaries kept are ones where the links don't give good insight into story.

Kurosagi (personally recommend although main character is not exaclty HOT as such:D, though if it consoles you drama version guy is :D)

The story is about a (highschool aged)? boy working as a swindler who cheats other swindlers, and returns the money to his clients. His father was swindled and concequently went mad killing his wife daughter and tried to kill his son. However the son survived. during his work he meets a girl aspiring to be a lawyer, who is constantly butting into his business, and trying to make him quit swindiling. I guess she could be considered his friend? (for reference it was also made into a japanese drama starring Tomohisa Yamashita and Maki Horikita, though the charcters depitcted there are made to be older)

Kuroshitsuji (fits you description perfectly howeverexcept it is set in Victorian England and does have demons, but the fantasy element of it does not completly take over the story.

despite the time lapse it is a good one to use if you foucs on Ciel's character/personality and his friendshipsand interactions with ppl. Also If you watch season 2 of the anime with the character Alois, you could even use him as a base for constrast..he had the same sort of past as ciel but responded differently to it. you don't even need to incorporate all the deamon stuff and the specific plotline, just consider them as mediums for conveying the underlying themes. and i believe its ongoing? manga? or at least the anime is?

Yakumo (college age student 18???) As a child his mother once tried to kill him before fleeing after she failed...she has not been seen since. on one of his cases he meets a fellow student who beomes his friend 'in a sense', though he is ofte cold and aloof towards her

X/ sai as he is know is not exactly the main character, and he isn't exaclty human human as such. due to a violent past he is a really really warped character...murdes ppl by puting them in red boxes. might be too far feched though.

Speaking of murder...there is also the light novel Death Note: Another Note (this one's more realistic)

One of the main characters in this story Beyond Birthday...is also a very wraped character. He I think is older than L and Light from death Note so perhaps 20s? he i don't think was abused as such but certainly alienated because of his poession of 'shinigami' eyes that allow him to see ppls life span.

The story features him as a sireal killer. It's a good read. ooh i forgot to mention...though this was probably evident...he has no friends...no friends....even though he is not perfectly human you could still focus on the whole alienation aspect of this one.

Occult Academy (another good one)

(sadly this is only an anime and although character seems in his 20s by looks and situation i will say he's younger than that because he was a kid (elementary/ middle school in 2009?)

Although this is sci-fi time travel stuff...you don't have to incorporate that. main jist is that the guy had a money making talent as a kid (bending spoons) and his mother exploited that...denying him a normal life. Now he appears cheereful, happy, has lots of friends, a bit dense guy and very detemined despite being unloved as a child. (anime is only 13 eps long though and wikipedia has good character summaries)

For the fantasy/ sifi type series you could still use them by drawing on the abuse and concequence side of it....withouth dwelling into the specifics of the whole time travel stuff..its not nesscairy. and spoon bending well there was a craze for it at a time. - anyways just think of it as a money making talent or something like that.

Darker than Black (not exaclty abuse? more just a hard life)

(sci-fi themed, it is originally an anime, first season25 eps, second season 12 eps, gaiden arc 4 eps)

Brother x Brother

(Warning: this one is YAOI and incest) - it is graphic and explicit (they are all in their 20s about though...this is typical abuse scenario...)

Its about 3 brothers and thier 'relationship'. on of the borthers was sexually aboused as a child by his stepfather and as a result has a sort of medical condition, resulting from the trauma (not too sure about the specifics myself) so far only 16 chapters have been fan scanlated into english...but it is enough to get the main gist of the story. Though the character is in his 20s, he is good looking, and otherwise fits the discription of what u were looking for. If this level of stuff is ok to use and your not uncomfortable with it it is good to look into..also no fantasy:D

OOOOHHH!! I know one! but you won't find this on any web because it's only available in the market: "Neck and Neck" The story's really good! It's a love triangle. The girl's family is friends with the other guy's family but the girl's family is also a rival of another. The girl has a crush on her childhood friend, but the guy doesn't like her and treats her like a baby sister. The girl meets the son of her family's rival at highschool(it was highschool i think) and then the guy develops a crush on her. I don't want to spoil a very good story! It's really awesome!!! I only told you their family's relation. Btw, the girl is really tough because she's a daughter of a high police officer. and her childhood friend is very smart. More like a tactician.

Oh my. I know so many mangas/manhwas where the Female lead is being abused... No so much about males..

There's Tamaki from Ouran high School Host Club - He has this light hearted attitude in front of his friends, however is secretly aching due to the fact that he's not allowed to see his mother who he loves dearly and his grandmother neglects him since he was the child of his mother, who she hates for stealing the heart of her son (you don't really know much of that until you get the endish part of the manga)
