I have a email from a company that claims it can check if you have been mis sold your serps insurance. How can?

How can I check out if they are genuine. They claim they are regulated by the ministry of justice, but where can I check the company out. I don't want to send details of my policy until I can be sure they can be trusted !! I cant help wondering if it is another type of scam .

    Hello Heather,

    My reply is a little lengthy I know but please read it.

    The first questions are how did this company find out that you had SERPS?, and how did they discover that you may have been mis-sold it?

    Also how did they get hold of you email address in order to contact you.

    From the information I have very few people can claim that they were mis-sold SERPs but even if you were, or at least think you were you can certainly do the paperwork in order to get repaid for any mis-sold SERPS.

    To get information about this please visit:

    This is a highly respected and free website which can advise and help in these matters. I was mis-sold loan protection insurance and this website provided advice, information and the necessary templates in order to claim it back myself. I was successful and got my payments back.

    My advice is to check out the company who emailed you on the Internet, but to me it looks very much like another scam to try to get you to part with some of your pennies.

    There are genuine firms out there who do deal with retrieving mis-sold policies, insurance etc, but not without a price. Normally about 25% of what you get back. Why pay them if you can do it yourself for the cost of a stamp or two?

    I would be interested in knowing what this company is called so perhaps you could add this information to your question, or of course you can also send me a Yahoo Personal Message by going to my profile.

    PS - I would also advise you not to email this company back or contact them in any way until you have checked them out.

    Serps in not Insurance it forms part of your State pension. Obviously a scam as they do not know what they are talking about.

    Correct == it's a scam ..

    Just go look up the meaning of SERPS == it's part of your old age PENSION entitlement, not some sort of 'insurance' that some-one could may have 'miss-sold' you :-) :-)

    It's probably a scam.
