Poking someone you don't know (but that some friends know) on facebook by accident?

I was looking at this guy's page to see if I knew him and then I might have clicked "poke" by accident. I'm just wondering if a little notification will pop up saying "you are about to poke ____. They will be notified on their home page" or something if you poke someone you don't know. I'm really embarrassed right now and I can't tell if I poked him or not! Please help.

    if you press "poke" again, then it will either say you already poked them, or it will ask if you want to poke them

    No notification so basically your screwed unless you just send him message saying sorry that you poked him.
