acp tablets from your vet - our dog is really frightened by fireworks but one acp and he is in an "acp" bubble in which he is protected from fireworks
we have had him since he was a puppy and at 8yrs old this is the only thing that works - unless we get all fireworks banned (best idea!)
sorry had to add this comment as i have read earlier comments re - get your dog over this - why do you pander to then
if a dog is of a nervous theme you will never get them ok with things that worry them - you will just end up becoming a nervous wreck
i write this comment with my normally "on my neck with fear" dog sitting happily asleep on the sofa beside me whist fireworks go off in the distance - drugs dont always work but they are worth chatting with your vet about as its not every day you need them but once or twice a year!

I don't think anything helps. Last night I got a call from my daughter. Her dog was a nervous wreck with fireworks going off. He was hiding in the boiler cupboard shaking.

well why are you trying to cover up her fear instead of trying to get your dog to get over it?
when there are fireworks just keep calm, this will make your dog gain confidence (if your ot scared she wont be) positively re-enforce it when there are fireworks, she will start linking the fireworks to food, thus being happy when she hears fireworks. Patiently do this until the problem is resolved , it DOES take time. so remember be patient, positively re-enforce, and good luck!! :)

I agree with Kathleen. When your dog is in the open it doesn't feel very safe when something that it's scared of goes off. (Such as fireworks.) If you put it in it's crate and put a blanket over it it will feel a lot safer from that frightful noise.

We fostered a dog who went nuts whenever there were fireworks or thunderstorms. We found he did best when he was crated with a blanket over his crate.
