I have been comparing hand guns, I noticed that the new Rugars have what appears to be a double trigger it?

must be a safety feature do you have any opinions or knowledge about this as I am a Rugar fan but I am old school the old security six 357 was my weapon of choice, I am looking at the new 9 millimeters, but the picture of the new ones have a double trigger, please tell me what you may know about this double trigger and anything that may help, I am a Ruger man but I don't know about this safety feature whether it is good or bad, I may go with a Taurus 9 mill. please give me any thoughts you may have. thanks in advance.

Before ya try to shoot it, you ought a learn how to spell it, first! It's, 'Ruger'. Every Glock on the planet has one of these trigger safety levers. I'm surprised you haven't noticed this sooner.

Is it good or bad? Well, it depends! It's, 'bad' if you prefer, or are used to, using a smooth faced trigger. I've never fired a pistol with a TSL that didn't start irritating my trigger finger, somewhere after the first 50 rounds. A trigger safety lever, also, makes it a lot tougher for many people to shoot a pistol well. There is a learning curve; and lots of practice is necessary.

Furthermore, in my opinion, trigger safety levers are bad because a TSL gives many users a false sense of security. I've got more than 50 years of handgun experience that tell me it's absolutely impossible to handle pistols all day long and never once place your index finger inside the triggerguard - impossible. (Crap happens!)

Trigger safety levers are, 'good' because a pretensioned striker-firing system can NOT have an truly effective mechanical drop safety without that TSL being installed and in proper working order. (Which is the principal reason, 'Why' you should never remove that often annoying little lever from the trigger's face.)

That is a "Safe" trigger. It's a small, angled piece in the center of the trigger. Unless there is equal pressure across the trigger itself, the firing pin is not engaged. This is very similar to the Glock trigger, a tried and true mechanism. This is what makes them "drop safe" also, as the firing pin cannot "bash" a round when the weapon hits the ground.

The Ruger SR9 is a striker fired weapon, has been getting good reviews, and Ruger does have a good service reputation. I would certainly opt for the Ruger over the Taurus.

do not go with the taurus. the sr9 is a far more superior gun in every aspect. like everyone said its a safety feature along with a manual safety, loaded chamber indicator ,and if I am right a magazine disconnect safety( prevents it from being fired if the magazine is removed. I haven't tested it yet). coming from a guy who has owned both but only kept one, get the Ruger. I also like the sr9c, its small enough for conceal and carry and it comes with a hi cap mag and grip extender giving it the feel of a full size sr9.

Source(s): own the sr9c and love it.

The new Ruger SR-9 has a trigger safety-just like the Glock. The idea is not new,it been around since the mid 80's.It also has a standard slide mounted safety, and a magazine disconnect.

It's a safty feature, they come on hunting rifles as well, and Springfeild XD's have this trigger as well. It gives the trigger the ability to have a lighter, smoother pull. The gun also cannot go off without this "extra" trigger being compressed level with the actual trigger, a nice feature when carrying the weapon hunting/for protection.

Its a safety feature that prevents the trigger from being pulled unless your finger is squarely on it. Glock started it, and its cought on with several makers. You dont even notice its like that when you shoot the gun.

its a good feature, its completely unobtrusive and is just one extra layer of safety.

it's a safety, it'll only fire if the safety is pressed down, it's so dropping the gun or having the tip of the trigger snagging on something won't fire it.
