Oil dumping on rear exhaust manifold, 98 toyota avalon?
I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon with 205k miles on it. I took it to a service place to get an alignment performed on it, and they also changed the oil, but for a week now i have smelled oil burning when i turn on my air conditioning or heat. So sitting in drive thru today i saw smoke coming out from under the hood, i pulled into a parking spot and opened the hood. there was smoke coming from the rear exhaust manifold, that is burning oil. i checked the oil in the car and it is below the safe line. i also noticed that around the manifold, and under it, is covered in oil. The car did not do this before the oil was changed. i still have coolant and i don't think its blowing smoke out the exhaust. so what could it be? and i know it isn't that the guy spilled oil on it, because the oil cap is right over the front exhaust manifold, no where near the rear.

The valve cover gasket is the likely culprit. If it's leaking down on your manifold. it would be as you describe. Happened on my 97 Maxima. The oil change is not related to this kind of problem and the timing seems to be coincidence.

that's plausible that the TCS (temperature administration sensor) is undesirable. Or it may also be your heater center it rather is plugged. you could unplug it if you're a touch bit a mechanic . only unplug the heater center hoses placed on the firewall on the decrease back of the engine . those that bypass into the vehicle's interior. Run some water into the hoses with a touch pressure. you'll see the water popping out on the different hose. run it until eventually it comes out sparkling. For the sensor you should experiment the engine for a code. you would possibly want to attempt this for loose at many vehicle factors shops alongside with Kragen's or Autozone. If it became the water pump or Thermostat your engine might want to overheat. i imagine it truly is the heater center or TCS.
