If christian churches get to claim exemtion from tax?

Shouldn't other religion be treated the same? I mean, as a Satanist witch, Why don't I get to write off my tools of worship? And why does the church of Satan have to pay taxes on it's income? And Wiccans and all other religions should get to claim the same right as christians. So why can't we?

Update:

Messenger of god.... really? Are you so sure about that? So your saying that your tithes go to help people of 'all religions' and that the pur[pose of this is not 'solely' to bring them to your god? Right! LMAO! I lived your lie for 32 years. You can't fol me! Nice try though. :)

Update 2:

Drakestone: You are truly insightful. That is what I was thinking. :)

I agree, all churches and religions should be treated equally, but I disagree with any church being tax-exempt. The recognition of a church as a church in order to exempt it from taxes violates the establishment clause of the First Amendment.

Because Christian Churches are a charitable organizations. When a person tithes their weekly or monthly income a percentage of that tithe goes towards charity and missionary work, another percentage goes towards the maintenance/repairs/renovation of the church, and another percentage goes towards the living expenses and housing of the pastor. And people do make other charitable contributions trough the church (money, vehicles, clothes, homes, and etc. etc.)

Satanists charity only supports their own church, not to the poor, not to the misfortunate, and not to the homeless. Pagans may contribute to their covens or circles, and to environmental causes, but it would be unlikely they would give charitable contributions to the poor, the misforunate, and the homeless.

If Christian Churches were not given a tax exemption more poor people would go without food, shelter, and clothing. Because they would have to pay taxes, more taxes = less given to charitable causes.

I'm pretty sure the Church of Satan does have tax exempt status; it's leaders tend to be verbose enough that one could hardly deny them their rights and expect to get away with it. Besides, Satan's got the best lawyers around, according to Christian ethics (is there an emoticon for an ironic grin?). Which gives you more satisfaction? Tax exempt status, or complaining about not having tax exempt status? Eventually, you'll have to choose one.

Myeh. It's overrated. The church should be taxed like anyone else. It is all politics, really. The tax exemption helps to keep the facade that there is a separation between church and state.
