Why would Mitch McConnell assert that banning earmark spending would not reduce the federal budget?

Because now the Republicans get to control the Earmarks. He is not far from being right, they are a very small part of total spending, but he did not say it was complicated when it was an issue the Republicans could use against the democrats.

He is now also promising to "end Obama's bailouts". He seems to have forgotten that they were proposed and signed by Bush and that he voted for them.

all of them seem so hypocritical. this is not the earmarks it extremely is elevating our debt. it particularly is a mixture of Tax Cuts for the wealthy, conflict Spending and Entitlement spending jointly and without important artwork on those 3 reducing earmarks is basically the thank you to get votes from people who understand not greater suitable. McConnell is being a Hypocrite and as much as i'm a Democrat, I could say all of them seem, different than for some. I wish shall all of us come jointly to restoration issues fairly of each and all of the detest. that should make my sacrifices in the conflict nicely worth it!

Well it really wouldn't. You may see millions on earmarks but America has a multi trillion a year budget. On the grand scheme of things that's not much at all.

While earmarks make fun soundbites, all earmarks together add up to an insignificant fraction of the Federal Budget.

Because - like Republicans when they are in power - they LOVE earmarks.

Republicans LOVE spending money even more than Democrats!

These guys are screaming about cutting SOCIAL programs - but they are talking about INCREASING the Military Budget!
