MTG casual Mass Polymorph deck (Legacy format) Ideas? Suggestions? Comments?
I thought Mass Polymorph looked like fun but I didn't like its venerability so decided to make a casual Legacy style deck. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys may have or thoughts of the effeciency of the deck. I have no intention of adding any crazy expensive cards such as Jace the Mindsculpter so please don't even suggest them. Anyways here is the deck:
Creatures: (4)
(1) Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
(2) Stormtide Leviathan
(1) Iona, Shield of Emeria
Artifacts: (16)
(4) Chimeric Mass
(4) Chimeric Staff
(4) Darksteel Brute
(4) Chimeric Idol
Sorcery: (20)
(4) Mass Polymorph
(4) Mystical Tutor
(4) Ponder
(4) See Beyond
(4) Wrath of God
Land: (20)
(4) Cloudpost
(4) Glimmerpost
(4) Seachrome Coast
(4) Glacial Fortress
(2) Island
(2) Plains
As you can see it uses artifacts that can convert into creatures in order to not be targeted by Mass Polymorph. These artifacts are stronger creatures than the usual 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn tokens and will actually provide me with some defense. Also these artifacts will not be destroyed by Wrath of God and will allow me to clear the battlefield if I am getting swarmed. Only problem I can forsee is having enough mana to convert them into creatures so that I can use Mass Polymorph but they are rather low cost so it shouldn't be too huge of an issue.

Actually, with this decklist, the problem shouldn't be with getting the mana to play a lot of stuff, if you change a few cards in your mana base. Replace Glimmerpost with Vesuva (copying Cloudpost whenever possible). If you can find a way to fit in Crop Rotation, that would help immensely. In your case, since you only run WoG and Iona in White (and you shouldn't need to hardcast Iona), I would replace Wrath of God with All is Dust, and then switch to running UG for Crop Rotation instead of See Beyond (You can do so much better than this in Legacy). Switch Ponder with Brainstorm (believe me, it's better), and your dual-lands with Misty Rainforest (finds the lands you want, and thins your deck) and probably Breeding Pool (or 2 Terramorphic Expanse and 2 Islands).

Yeah, I foresee a problem. First of all, all of your cards, with myr propagator and myr matrix excluded (they're crap token makers anyways), you have no token production. The tokens are what make mass polymorph completely insane, because if you cast it on turn six after having an awakening zone out from turn three, that's three creatures. From one card. And you don't even have to risk flipping it on your polymorph. A blue/green mass polymorph is usually the best with cards like kozilek's predator and nest invader too. Anyways, you also have a relatively low quality of creatures. Guard gomazowa? Myr propagator? Darksteel sentinel? Yeah you have 5 good targets, but 12 bad ones will just ruin the deck completely. You want decent targets like bogardan hellkite, ulamog, the infinite gyre, and Emrakul. An average opponent can get rid of two guard gomazowas and race the remaining inkwell leviathan. An average opponent will just concede to an eldrazi, though. Anyways, this is the decklist I'd suggest: 4 terramorphic expanse 4 evolving wilds 4 forest 8 island 4 Kahlni garden 4 mass polymorph 4 preordain 4 see beyond 4 negate 4 deprive 1 emrakul, the aeons torn 1 ulamog, the infinite gyre 1 iona, shield of emeria 3 terastodon 4 growth spasm 4 kozilek's predator 2 into the roil This is a standard decklist too, so if you want to make it more casual, add more ponders and progeniti and such.

You could always use token makers to get out creatures. Awakening zone is a great option. Previous standard decks used mass polymorph, so check those out.
Have fun!

Also put some counterspells to back your Mass Polymorph. I suggest you also use Elspeth Tirel as it produces tokens and wipes the board.

how about playing some manlands, like kjeldron outpost, it's a good token producer, or simply lands that produce tokens.or you can get rid of white, and play it blue green. there's a lot of token producers for green
,play card draws like standstill
add in the simple four to cast polymorph to atleast wait four or five turns to play your polymorphing effect. i suggest using counterspell, you don't want people destroying your combo with simple discard spells or cards like memoricide.
if your playing leviathan, you can play a simple spreading seas, it activates the islandwalk ability and it's a crazy simple land color manipulator (strong against) mono colored non blue or multicolored deck. yeah you can brainstrom ponder and preordain. for aggro decks you can play simple bounce spells like the whiplash trap
