How does having the American army in Iraq make it more violent?

i am doing a global studies essay and need some information that is clear.

    I do not know that we make it more violent, but we do contribute to the violence just by being there. The Muslims hate America, we are the Great Satan according to them, and any chance they get to shoot at us, they will take it.

    Too bad its that way. I wish we understood them more, and they understood us more. I do not hate them, I hate their violent culture.

    because people who hate the US have a way to attack us right in their own town or city. it would still be very violent without the US though because insurgents would attack iraqi military

    Since most of the violence is Iraqi-on-Iraqi, or foreign-sponsored Iraqi-on-Iraqi, I'd say no.
