Christians: What do you think of the Book of Enoch?

Do you believe the Book of Enoch is a divinely inspired Book? It speaks in detail of angels coming down and having sex with human women and creating giants and what not. It also says this in Genesis, or do you hold some other interpretation? If angels did indeed do this than how many times did angels rebel against God and come to earth since there were giants after the flood as well?

The Book of Enoch, unlike many of the hoaxes perpetrated upon the Christian faith, has been shown in great detail to agree with the word of God, to be accurate in detail, and pass the same tests to which we subject the Word of God.

There are however three books purported to be 'The Book of Enoch' which are obvious fakes.'Enoch III' and 'Enoch ll' which are fakes and pseudo-pigraphas.

'Enoch l' has a direct quote from Jude, the oldest manuscripts date to 200 and 300 years before Christs coming, and yet, the book contains concepts not understood until the Christian era. For this reason, the early church, after the resurrection of Jesus, used the Book of ENoch very effectively in showing the Jewish people that Jesus did fit the role prophesied for the Messiah. The Jewish people lost interrest in the Book of Enoch, because so many had converted to Christianity due to its teaching.

Angels did come to earth and have sex with women.

    Genesis 6:2-4

"the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. 3 Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with[a] humans forever, for they are mortal[b]; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.”

4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. "

    2 Peter 2:4

" For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,[a] putting them in chains of darkness[b] to be held for judgment"

    Enoch 6:1-4

"As the sons of men multiplied upon the earth, fair and beautiful daughters were born.2-The angels of heaven saw and desired them. They encouraged each other to "Come, let us take these daughters of men to beget children for us"3- Semyaza, their leader, said, "If you do this deed, I alone will have to answer to God for it"4-They all answered him and said, "Let us equally take any blame for this, and then carry out our plan"

    Jude 6

" And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day

The purpose of Marriage is to replentish the Earth. Since man is mortal, he needs to bear seed to carry on life. Jesus did not say that Angels were sexless- only that they did not need to reproduce to carry on their existence. The angels have no need to reproduce, since they are eternal. Yet, the possibility to reproduce is still there. During Enochs time, many were "leaving their first estate," and succumbing to temptation.

Also, angels can be mistaken for men. Ezekial 9:2, Gen 18:2-16, Heb 13:2.

So angels can appear very humanlike. The perverted sinners of Sodom and Gomorrah were anxious to get to the angels that came to rescue lot and his family.

The cherubim and seraphim are not very humanlike.

Lucifer was the first to sin and rebel.

    Semyaza was the second rebellion.

After the flood, there is a third rebellion (Gen 6:4) "The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward" NIV

So the total number of rebelion of angels, is unknown.

I is a Truly Fantastic book the most ancient of existing True Knowledge of God scriptures and it parallels the old and new testaments, I do not think that more subsequent Angels fell from grace nor is it necessary in order for the later Giants or currant prohibited Bastard children that are among us! as I believe we are at the period known as "when in the end times it shall be as in the days of Noah" the Fallen Angels were incarcerated for the most part I believe to Earth in General and its Near space and not all were kept from interfering further with Mankind.

  • The so called giants after the flood were not the same as the nephilim. The nephilim were the offspring of angels and human women, once God flooded the earth, the angels returned to heaven and were not allowed to return to earth.

The books of the Apocrypha weren't deemed verifiable sturdy in the cases of the 1st century advert.even nevertheless i've got faith in the e book of James (?) he quoted from the e book of Enoch. it particularly is my perception that the sixty six books of the previous and New testomony has all the innovations nessesary for salvation and to comprehend the midsection of God! IMHO why would i prefer to verify something that would or won't be Gods notice. God bless.

    Satanic.

    Comment:

Longevity should be consistent with size. Adam was created as a giant and his descendants were giants.

Angels cannot marry or have sex, do not marry and do not have sex, and if they could, would not dare have sex, for all angels fear God.

Demons are NOT the spirits of the Nephilim. They are fallen angels (1 Kings 22:19-22; Psalm 103:21 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Ki... ).

I do not believe the Book of Enoch to be inspired, nor do I believe "sons of God" in Genesis 6 refers to angels. I believe the sons of God in Gen. 6 were merely descendants of Seth, while the "daughters of men" were descendants of Cain.

The word translated as "giants" in the KJV is "Nephilim" which can also be translated as "great men". I believe this to be the proper translation. You will also see if you look at the phrasing in the Hebrew and in most English translations other than the KJV that it is the "sons of God" themselves which are the "Nephilim", not their offspring.

This is confirmed in Dr. Stanley Horton's excellent commentary entitled "Genesis: The Promise of Blessing".

The Bible quotes directly from it. Proving its authenticity. It reveals alot about the end times and even about science. It was written before most of the Bible and is being revealed to us all over again in these last days. "The last will be first and the first last"

1Enoch was not a Christian book.

It was Jewish scripture and widely revered.

Even Jesus quoted extesively from it.

    Jude 14 comes to mind...

    EDIT@James.

    Great, detailed and accurate answer..

It is a Catholic Book, not a Christian one. Most Christians do not accept it as inspired.
