Glowlight fin. Did it grow back?
My tank had 3 glowlight tetras and other fish. Two glowlights died after treating with ick. I know who is who because their bodies and fins had differences. The one glowlight that survived had a chipped dorsal fin. I bought him that way. Its been a week since treating ick and all fish seem happy. My son noticed that his fin looks whole again, and it does. Is it possible that fins can repair to a full fin? Anytime I have had a fish with a chipped fin for any reason it stayed that way. But appears to be a normal dorsal fin now. Am I crazy or is this possible??

Fins can repair themselves if only partly gone or frayed. If gone into the meat of the fish, then they will not grow back.
When you treat small tetra's for Ick, use only half doses of medication and drop in an airstone. Many of the smaller ones can not tolerate medications. You can also use aquarium salt and turn the heat up to 84.......also adding an airstone.
Medications and heat delete the oxygen so you need to add oxygen for them. Pick one treatment or the other and do not do both.

Yeah they grow back. I bought 7 that were nice and healthy from Petsmart, then 2 weeks later I got 3 from Walmart that had damaged fins. One was good but one was missing half the top fin and the other had splits in the side fins. They healed in about a week too. I use to be able to tell what 3 were newer. ***I don't buy WALMART fish after finding out on here the conditions they are raised in.***
When I was little (about 5 yrs.) someone gave me a Goldfish that had no back fin. My dad put it in our dogs BIG drinking bucket (yeah- he wasn't that smart...) It grew its whole tail back after 2 weeks. I gave it to my aunt cause she had a pond. It only lived 10 years cause something got to them. She thinks raccoons worked together to lift the top (wire) off to pluck them out. He grew to be 14".
