"clinical threshold"-- what does the word mean?

please let me know the definition and explanation of the term-- "clinical threshold"

    Basically, a clinical threshold is used to determine whether a treatment has a clinically significant effect, or whether the treatment is superior to another treatment.

    It can be roughly described as "how much better" a treatment makes a patient

    I did look for a more technical explanation but here seems to be a problem in that there is no generally agreed definition. In some cases the threshold required things that could be measured, whereas in others, how the patient reported they felt was considered.
