Social policies are created to improve the rights of each single citizen in the United States. As our founding fathers fought to created a country where each citizen will live a life of freedom and equality. As Thomas Jefferson once said, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Government are".Affirmative action policies became an example of what our founding fathers' beliefs in equality. Affirmative action policies ensured minorities and women to obtain equal opportunities in the labor market. According to Margaret L. Andersen, “Affirmative action has now become one of the most controversial policies for creating better opportunities for members of historically disadvantaged groups" (2008, 149). Nevertheless, affirmative action policy is one of the most controversial public policy that promotes equal opportunities and stop discrimination in the workplace.

Does an affirmative action policy increase equality in the labor markets? With this question asked by both opposite sides, I strongly agree that the affirmative action policies have increase equality in the labor market among minorities and women. As stated in the Jonathan S. Leonard’s study paper, “The evidence to be presented in this paper indicates that affirmative action under the contract compliance program has led to improved employment opportunities for females and minorities” (1984). Unfortunately, there are many people disagree on the creation of affirmative action policies.

    Nice writing. Just take out the word single from your first sentence. It implies that each single person has rights, but not married people. Your last sentence is probably a typo, but you need to add the word who "many people who disagree". I would state my thesis as you did, but begin new paragraphs with "As Thomas Jefferson..." and "According to Margaret L. Andersen...", "Does an Affirmative Action...".
