Anyone know how to fix W7 boot error?
I'm getting an error RBTCU is compressed when I try and boot Windows 7 Ultimate. All I've done is compressed c: yesterday. I tried to use the repair Cd, no good. Trying to boot with Linux is not helping either. The drives can't be mounted. Can't get to the safe mode or recovery options either.. Have some files I need to save.... Anyone knows what to do? I googled the error and nothing turns up...

Hi Joel, I ran the option repair startup.. No Go.. Amazingly Ubuntu10.10 is not even booting! or at least the CD I have.. After repair, the error persists. I tried re-installing W7, but for that I'll have to wipe off MBR and data. that's unacceptable. If I want to upgrade, I have to boot from windows and run setup. Thats not an option I have.

I did this:
expand RBCTU temp
attrib RBCTU -s -r -h
del RBCTU
ren temp RBCTU
attrib RBCTU -a +s +r +h
Now it boots, shows the windows logo and reboots. I'm attempting repair again )Windows does give me that option now) Fingers crossed!

Ack! You compressed the program that uncompresses things. The simplest fix is to boot the Windows 7 DVD and select 'Startup Repair'. When you say you tried to he use the repair CD, what exactly do you mean? Can you give some more details about what you tried to do and what happened when you tried?
