1999 Ford Contour how can I get to the fly wheel bolts?
Its a 1999 ford contour 4 Cyl Automatic.. I have to replace the tranny. Anyway I cant seem to get access to the fly wheel to remove the bolts that are hold the fly wheel to the torque converter. I removed the starter but I cant seem to have enough access to get to those bolts.. Any ideas?

it should have a dust cover at the bottom of the tranny. take it off and use a screw driver and pry the flex plate around by the teeth the starter engages on. take out a bolt and then put the screw driver blade in the teeth and the shaft against the tranny case and start ratcheting. it takes time but that's the way its done. there is a special tool for this but the screw driver will do just fine. many vehicles have four bolts in the flex plate. wedge the screw driver in the teeth to hold the flex plate when you loosen the bolts. you may need a larger tool for this. im not familiar with this vehicle so this info may not apply to your situation but maybe there are some things here that will help out.

idk if you can get to em through the starter port. that's frickin tight!
pull the plugs. that will help you move the flex plate (though toyota called it a fly wheel).

Rotate the torque converter to align each of the four torque converter to flywheel retaining nuts and remove the nuts."
