Which branch of the military is best to join? Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National guard?

I want to join a branch that I can stay with until retirement and hopefully not get shot at.

Also, I wear glasses. How does that affect your participation in the military?

Update:

what kind of research, i've really just started looking into this. How would I qualify for a non combat position? Im in my second year in college and think the military would be my best option right now cause i have no idea what i want to do lol

Update 2:

also, where is the best place to do my research? military websites? should i talk to recruiters? Im scared they're going to throw bullshit at me to get me to joined (biased opinions)

If you're planning on making a career of the military, the U.S. Army is perhaps the most suitable military branch of service for lifelong careers. Why, you may ask? Because the U.S. Army offers the most benefits of any of the military branches of service, and also almost guarantees any MOS you may pick, and provides benefits during and after your service.

It depends what you want. Every branch has its ups and downs. I'm in the Air Force and wish I would have went Army. I don't like the Air Force because the branch tries to be so P.C. that it shoots itself in the foot protecting itself with thousands and thousands of regulations. I think we're the only branch that has to wear reflective vests/belts in combat zones so we don't get hit by cars. I'm not kidding. But we have the best food and the best living quarters... So like I said, every branch has its ups and downs.

"Best" for what? Job satisfaction? Not getting shot at? All branches have their pros and cons.

You can have a job in any branch with little to hardly a chance at getting shot at. But how do you know you would even qualify for any of those jobs? You really REALLY need to do alot more research.
