Purpose is as an action intentionally undertaken or an object being brought into existence, therefore for purpose there must be a conscience and in this question that would incur belief in a deity.

In so far as one can think of a purpose for anything.

Ever seen a rock thinking about its purpose?

This question cannot be answered unless we discover something beyond the universe, which may exist, but still be impossible for us to discover. Sad, huh?

Edit: @OKwithme: Teleological bias, how brilliant! Not even I have thought of a name for that way of thinking.

If the universe has a purpose, then there must be a creator. If you do not believe in a creator then there can not be a purpose. So, do you believe in a creator?

Of course it does silly. It holds everything together. You know when you feel a bit strange? That's when the universe is out of alignment.
