eye pain/sensitivity at night?

sometimes, when i go to sleep at night and i close my eyes, my eyes get a sort of sensitive, painful feeling....but it's like the back of my eyes and it goes into my forehead right above my eyes. I don't know why this happens. It makes it very hard for me to sleep. It usually only happens at night, or right when I wake up, never once i'm awake or anything like that.

Update:

could it be strain as to working on my laptop before I go to bed at night?

You have tight neck muscles causing the pain and when you lay down you are putting more pressure on the cause to help create more pressure on them to make the problem more acute. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head for its movements. The nerves for your eyes go to the back of your head, going right past those muscles. When the muscles are tight they can press into the nerves to cause pains on the back of your eyeballs. When there is more pressure it causes your pupils to dilate to make you sensitive to light. When the muscles are tight they end up pulling on the area where they are attached to the head to cause pains there and yours are at the front of your head where they are pulling. To get rid of these problems you need to free up the muscles in your neck and here's how to do that:

    Neck

Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about two minutes, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.

For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

Your problem is you spend lots of time (mostly) in your "laptop". but i have solution for your problem. fristly set your laptop brightness low laptop not use in switch light room, laptop ues in cfl light or some medium light in your room. after ues laptop at night you wash your face and eye in use generaly cold water 1-2 min. one important think in wash time your eyes opened. then you clear your face in towel and go to bad early. its really work and i hope your problem gone fastly. "good luck" try it `take care'.
