Am I wrong for questioning my religion?

I am so confused with my region. I am a catholic and I have always believed in god and everything that has to do with Christianity, but lately I've been questioning it and I feel I'm wrong for doing that. I'm not saying god isn't real but I just don't really understand. It drives me crazy because I'm sitting here forcing myself to believe. It goes against everything I believe what I was raised with but it all doesn't seem to make sense in some ways. Please. I don't know what to do.

Many things in Christianity don't make sense, that's why many Christians are leaving Christianity and converting to Islam. And in the Bible, you will find many contradictions.

Jesus is not God, he is a messenger of God.

John 7:16 Jesus answered, "My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me.

Luke 18:19 Jesus spoke to a man who had called him “good,” asking him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.”

John 14:28 “My Father is greater than I.”

Almighty God is absolutely One and His Oneness should never be compromised by associating partners with Him - neither in worship nor in belief.

God that Muslims worship is the same God that Jews and Christians worship - because there is only one God.

Muslims believe that all of God's prophets, which include Abraham, Noah, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, brought the same message of Pure Monotheism.

You were raised catholic therefore you have been 'conditioned' to believe that is true and the only way to believe.

There are many many different beliefs out there, why not learn and educate yourself on them and see if you are drawn to any. You may or not be drawn to anything. You shouldnt have to 'force' yourself to believe. And the some of the christians on here will say things like 'god is testing you' or 'we all have some doubt at time' blah blah blah

Its a simple, you are questioning your beliefs and faith becasue you are getting older and have a brain of your own. Just becasue your family and friends believe certain things doesnt mean you have to or need too. I was raised anglican but changed to paganism after learning alot about it and feeling myself drawn to it. But it took me a while to shake the belief that i would go to hell if i didnt believe in god, i dont think you should be scared into believing anything!! Hell is a christan concept as is satan. There is no such thing in paganism.

Before anyone comments about paganism being bad or about the devil i urge you to read about it before making an ignorant comment.

  • It is not wrong to ask questions. Read many different books on other faiths and belief systems. Also, check out some atheist sources. You might decide that you are more comfortable being Catholic or you might go a completely different way. There really is no right or wrong faith for you to become.

Beware groups that use emotional appeals to convince you to join their faith. Whether or not you join a religion, your choice should be based on logic, not emotion and fear.

Good luck with your search where ever it leads you.

  • I used to be a Christian but i went through the same thing as you some stuff just doesnt add up or make any sense at all but i now go with what i believe is true and not by the religion that was forced upon me. so what im trying to say is go with what you think is right im not trying to force my lack of a religion on to you. but good luck

it is your "right & duty" to question Dear! if something is being taught or proposed within your church and it does NOT have any Biblical support nor basis, it is a LIE, to just "hang in there" has indeed fatal & lethal consequences:-( God Desires ALL to Seek His Truths or be decieved, His Holy Living Word is where His Truths & Promises are found, yet your current church CONDEMNS sola scripture as IF God's Word is not enough:-( Big Red Flag, we are to Please & Obey God, not mere mortal men, agreed?

We ask the papacy, "Did you really change Sabbath to Sunday?"

She replies, "Yes, we did. It is our symbol, or mark, of authority and power."

We ask, "How could you even think of doing that?"

It's a pertinent question. But the question the papacy officially asks Protestants is even more pertinent. Please read it carefully:

"You will tell me that Saturday was the Jewish Sabbath, but that the Christian Sabbath has been changed to Sunday. Changed! but by whom? Who has authority to change an express commandment of Almighty God? When God has spoken and said, Thou shalt keep holy the seventh day, who shall dare to say, Nay, thou mayest work and do all manner of worldly business on the seventh day; but thou shalt keep holy the first day in its stead? This is a most important question, which I know not how you can answer. You are a Protestant, and you profess to go by the Bible and the Bible only; and yet in so important a matter as the observance of one day in seven as a holy day, you go against the plain letter of the Bible, and put another day in the place of that day which the Bible has commanded. The command to keep holy the seventh day is one of the ten commandments; you believe that the other nine are still binding; who gave you authority to tamper with the fourth? If you are consistent with your own principles, if you really follow the Bible and the Bible only, you ought to be able to produce some portion of the New Testament in which this fourth commandment is expressly altered." 11

11Library of Christian Doctrine: Why Don't You Keep Holy the Sabbath-Day? (London: Burns and Oates, Ltd.), pp. 3, 4.

Amazingly, some of the most prominent doctrines of Protestantism today are not found in the Bible at all. They have been brought into the Protestant churches by the mother church of Rome, who received them from paganism. A few of these false teachings are that:

    A. The law of God has been amended or repealed.

God's law can never be changed or repealed (Luke 16:17).

    B. The soul is immortal.

The Bible mentions "soul" and "spirit" 1,700 times. Not once is either referred to as immortal. People are mortal (Job 4:17), and none receive immortality until Jesus' second advent (1 Corinthians 15:51-54).

    C. Sinners burn eternally in hell.

The Bible teaches that sinners will be completely consumed (put out of existence), both soul and body, in the fire (Matthew 10:28). An eternal hell of torment is not taught in the Bible.

    D. Baptism by immersion is not necessary.

Baptism by immersion is the only baptism recognized by Scripture.

    E. Sunday is God's holy day.

The Bible teaches, without question, that God's holy day is the seventh-day Sabbath--Saturday

Note: These false teachings, once believed, tend to bring "confusion" (which is what the term "Babylon" literally means) and make understanding Scripture much more difficult.

so as Scripture warns and foretells She has caused the entire world ALL Nations to become drunk in her fornications, Jesus warns us to Come out of her (Rev. 18:4 )

No, there is nothing wrong with questioning anything. That is what makes you and I and everyone else, human. Animals don't question anything, but we do. There is nothing wrong with it, that is what makes us intelligent. Questioning a belief system is what everyone should do, it is not right for people to blindly follow anything.

I am not religious and I will not tell you to leave your religion, but do your research, read about christianity and don't just read "christian" books, you must look outside, look at other perspectives. I suggest a really interesting documentary, it is your choice what to make of it, good luck on your journey to finding "your" truth.

Keep an open-mind and search for the correct knowledge which is now available...You actually have a "responsibility" to do this for yourself. Look, evaluate, conclude, decide what is true or not true for you and be very, very, careful what you agree with without evaluating this for yourself. No matter what happens to you now or later on, you are directly responsible. Believe me, no one is going to tell me what is true or not true for me...

There is an option to believe in god without believing in any scripture.

I think God would appreciate a thinking believer that questions His existence once and a while - certainly that over mindless sheeplike submission
