Why do people in the US support the republicans?
Well this is a UK prospective and I don't know all the details, but essentially they seem like the party of the rich. They dismiss a lot of attempts to decrease the divide between rich and poor and socialism. Also if anything bad is said about them they claim the media is supporting a liberal agenda, claim you don't love America enough or claim you dont have strong enough Christian beliefs.
Surely making health and education more equal and accessible isn't socialism/communist. It's just common sense.
BTW: For the trolling remarks. I have lived in London for 19 years... With this new fangled thing we call the internet the worlds news is quite easily accessed! Even here in London.

It has a lot to do with the claims that you mention that they make in the last sentence. These claims are all wrong.Good Christians, people who love their country (whichever country that is), and even fiscal and social conservatives all question Republican ideology. However, the real reason is that Americans are impatient and want results, now. As a result, they took their frustration with the continuing recession out on the Democrats. However, isn't it odd that people who blame the government for their problems would vote for a party that has an image of being a party of self-reliance.

I support most Republican ideas because I don't believe in decreasing the divide between the rich and the poor by taxing the rich. I don't believe I am entitled to anyone's money. I don't care if they are sitting on millions of inherited dollars. That money doesn't belong to me.
I see it in this way....I have lots of books. So many, that people who come to my home comment on them. Should the government be allowed to come into my home and say, "You have too many books. The library (or school) down the road needs books. We are going to take 40% of your books." I believe this is wrong. Wrong with books and wrong with money.
Governments are HORRIBLE at handling money. I've seen it first hand. The fewer things the government controls the better we all are.
I have been a school teacher for the past 18 years, but I've worked many jobs aside from education. I can say this: a poor person never gave me a job.

I've never encountered this ...I am not affiliated with any political party.... I often disagree with the Republican Party... I often disagree with the Democratic Party .... but I've only ever been labeled "A Communist" by a freeloading "Pothead" Welfare recipient who was considered "challenged" beyond 17 years of age ... got a free ride on the taxpayers and spent all of it on "Pot"....At the age of 19, lost an argument with a Car after midnight one night while high on pot ...riding a small motorbike on the wrong side of the road... head on. I have not encountered anyone else who voiced an opinion concerning my loyalty to Democracy since that incidence.

I think the puppet on the right has good views, well I think the puppet on the left has good views. Wait a minute there's one guy holding both puppets.Thank you Bill Hicks you unsung hero for that accurate description of politicts in America.
Why can't we just find a communist system that works where everyone is equal? It can be done!

allow me to educate you. You are looking at this incorrectly. The republican party is the party of the middle class. Where democrats love to bow down to big corporations and then steal money from the middle class so they can use it to buy votes from illegals and minorities. democrats will tell you that you have to respect everyone's culture, unless you are from a culture that is smart enough not to vote their way, then you can disrespect that culture. Media sites like MSNBC and Jon Stewart are overtly pro-democrats, while they tell you they are not. The republican party is the party of normal hard working people, while the democrats are the party of morons and bleeding heart hippies.

They don't, actually. Most Americans claim to be conservative, not Republican. That Republicans tend to be more conservative is not support of Republicans, but a showing of a weak Conservative Party in the USA.
Further, Republicans do not favor the rich; they favor you making up your own mind and allowing you to accumulate a fortune, and allowing those who do to keep it and do with it as they see fit.

Conservatives believe in equal treatment for all ppl, even the rich and the poor.
Democrats believe in special treatment for those they deem to be the "good" guys.
Has nothing to do with being a "patriot" or what religion you believe.

Well the truth of the matter is that Republicans are more business friendly and often successful business men or women while Democrats are mostly lawyers and lifetime politicians. I prefer productive people and not people who make their money by screwing over the productive people.

Your UK perspective must be limited to the MSM drivel which is highly Dem biased.
The Republicans, just look at their platform, have the best viable answers for the country.
