If A Person Writes Me A Check And Puts Tomorrow's Date?
I just picked up a check from one of my clients and he wrote tomorrow's date on it. If I go to deposit the check today will it clear tomorrow or will it go in tomorrow because he wrote tomorrow's date?

Give the person a break. They may have written tomorrow's date on it because they have to go shuffle funds around into their checking account to make sure they have enough for the check to clear. If you deposit the check tonight, it might wind up costing them an overdraft fee. Wait until tomorrow. You can't need the money *that* badly, can you?

In the US, the check is valid the instant it is written, regardless of the date. It will be processed by your bank the same as any other check you deposit. The ONLY time they even LOOK at the date is to determine if the check is 'stale'. Unless the check states on its face that it is not valid after a certain date, or a certain amount of time after the date on the check, there is no legal definition of 'stale'. The commonly quoted 6 months is standard practice, but NOT found in actual law.

I have spoken to a bank manager about this.
The tellers do NOT have to go by the post date.
They can cash that check any time they want - there is no law.
You can take the check tonight to the bank if you want to.
Deposit it in your ATM machine if the bank is closed.
Careful with post dated checks.
It usually means the person has very LOW funds.
Call the bank on the face of the check.
Google the 800 number and call that number.
An automated system will guide you, enter that you are merchant wanting to verify a check.
It will tell you if the funds are in the account...

You can deposit it today. Post-dating a check does NOT prevent it from being cashed. That practice went out 25 years ago.

from my experience they still can be cashed. Not every teller at the bank look at the date on the check. I guess it depends if you get lucky or not. I have wrote a later date and they still cashed the check. So I know it doesn't matter what date I put on it.

You may not be able to deposit until tomorrow since that's the date on the check, really depends on your bank.
