How can I buy seafood and be assured it is not from the Gulf Coast?
I want to buy seafood but in spite of assurances of safety, I do not want to buy anything harvested in the Gulf. (The good news for everyone who does not care about the chemicals in the Gulf, more for you at a lower price since I won't be in competition with you.)

do a google search for cold water fish or seafood. There are many types. I know that salmon, lobster, cod (I think), and others are from northern climates, not the gulf.

The as quickly as teeming and colourful Gulf of Mexico has been dieing for sometime ordinarily from the pollutants from the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans it fairly is full of refineries, chemical vegetation and sick human beings. Even President Bush declared 1992 the 300 and sixty 5 days of the Gulf of Mexico to attempt and shop the waters of the gulf, yet failed by using government cutbacks, lax enforcement . And now purely like the goose that laid the golden egg we've had the biggest oil spill in history and a threat in charge some one else and for some to make a lot of money.

It will depend on where you are and if the local fish suppliers buy locally. That will depend on where on the coasts you are.
Inland you will have to rely on your suppliers to tell you where they bring their fish from.
You may also be able to source from lake and river fisheries.
Farmed fish is the last choice for inland or sea farms as they are generally full of feed rather than feeding where ever they swim.
