Do conservatives saying that WW2 got us out of the Great Depression realize that they sound as ridiculous...?

...as liberals who say that the New Deal got us out of the Great Depression.

Sounds like some of you have bought into the Broken Window Fallacy.

    Keynes was an idiot.

It wasn't the war itself that ended the depression. It was the economic policy because OF the war, or leading up to it that did. FDR did a few good things when he came into office in 1933, but what he did alot of is Progressive spending, like Obama. Any spending with business in mind treated them like pack mules for his socioeconomics. The depression lingered on for 7 more years. Then in 1940, he was forced to by planes, tanks, ships, bombs, bullets and beans. This was trickle-down economics aimed STRAIGHT as business. The depression was over in a year.

By all statistics, the nation was seriously in economic trouble until WW2, and unemployment was still over 17%. Keynesian theories are a proven disaster. It wasn't until the government became a huge and reliable customers of goods and services that the economy rebounded. It was the war that made the government this customer. So you fail in your simple-minded theory.

The actual event of WW2 didn't get us out of the depression. What got us out of the depression was the government spending on its own industries in preparation for war. It gave the economy the boost it needed. So YET AGAIN, conservative logic comes back and bites them in the @$$.

You are aware the entire world more or less owed us trillions because of that war? it in fact not ridicules at all but a fact that the war was beneficial to the economy. Just cause you think wars all terrible and bad, which is true, doesn't mean they are bad economically, especially for the side loaning the money.

WW2 made U.S a super power, it ended the era of U.K as the top world power.

Building the military machine to war created millions of jobs, I still meet older females that built ships, tanks, planes.....

Reason why present wars don't do the same is because we already have an impressive arsenal, requiring nothing more than replacements.

Well, it doesn't sound ridiculous whatsoever as it always ends as an economic boom and supplied faith in the nation which pushed us into the boom of the 50's. If that wasn't it, as the FDR alphabet soup actually made it worse, then what was it?

No. World War II didn't save the economy through wealth redistribution, it saved the economy by taking FDR's attention off his massive social programs.

It wasn't WWII that ended the Depression. It was the effect that WWII had on the government.

The New Deal helped. WW2 actually got us out. That's how it works. That's how they teach it in history classes. Have you ever taken a history class? If you had, I would presume that would know this.

War is essentially a government jobs program.
